It's a really nice castle, of what's left of it, this is just before the restorations started.

Norwich castle garderobes seem odd. Open out down onto the fancy stone facade facing the new Norman market and town.
Not sure how it was exactly when it was built but if it was like this waste would have ended up round the back by the wall. Either way, its likely that there was a cesspit or some other sort of dump below that was regularly cleared. I don't see any on photos.
They are right here. Seems odd position. Facing the new Norman town. And down an ornate blind arcaded Caen stone wall. Right next to the wooden structure that was apparently for everyday access to Royal apartments so "the King" didn't have to go round by the visitor entrance and shop.
Aha! It doesn't smear down the arcading. It comes down these shoots and onto these benches!
Hahahaha if I was a queen, I'd totally have chutes dumping poo on lazy peasants ;) But yes, the latrines were on the side, but to make any sense of the situation we'll need to figure out how it exactly was back then. Was it open as now, was it altered later, covered?
