Well if he is a real Christian, he should be doing it like the Bible says and not praying in front of a bunch of people anyway. I, as a pagan, also "pray" for people who have touched my heart. I just happen to *pray* to entities not named God.

I don't 'pray' because I am a realist. I only believe in things I can see and touch. I do hope for the best for every creature and do my utmost to help where I can, however religion is transactional. The entire tenet is do good or don't get into 'heaven'. It is entirely selfish.
It is possible to pray for something or wish well for the creatures and not have any expectations of a response or ROI. Christians do, sure. Their entire organization is based on transactions
