Very German reaction (positive affect)
That’s where I learned it: observations while taking public transit to/from school in Germany, and many times in the years subsequent. Americans will *generally* not respond with words or actions but sit in silent fury while enduring the chaos. Well, this is one American who is not “wired” that way.
my american friend complained to me that he didn't like that cyclists in berlin would scold his son for walking in the bike lane, and I was like 'but how else will he learn not to walk in the bike lane'
Sigh. Americans (many if not most of them, it seems) expect to live free from the consequences of their gross negligence or bad behavior.
