Micah Parsons to the Packers instantly makes them Super Bowl contenders. I don't care what they gave up: It was worth it.
Micah Parsons to the Packers instantly makes them Super Bowl contenders. I don't care what they gave up: It was worth it.
As a Bears fan I do not approve of this trade. I'm just glad we don't play them till late in the season this year
Frankly I can't believe they didn't give up more
Yahoo! writers are saying they're surprised. After the beginning of this week, why? I would have been surprised if Micah played for Jerruh for $500M/yr after the insulting crap Jones said.
Yep. Thanks Jerruh for screwing your team again.
Ask older Vikings fans how they felt about the Herschel Walker trade.
Basically the Vikes made that trade to beat the Packers with one shoe once. Then crashed for a few years
He’s going to eat the cheese
If they end up having a good/great season, then it's even better for them and worse for the 'Boys because those 1st round picks will be diluted. Can't wait to hear Jerry Jones try to spin his way out of this
Not worth till you win.
I mean, they still have Jordan Love at QB....so while Parsons helps them, they still are not beating the better NFC teams.
Laughs in Giants fan.
I now dread what Jalen Carter is going to get
Yay, great news. Jerry Jones is an idiot.
I believe Dallas law enforcement would refer to this as a Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound.
Do they just hate superstars in Dallas or something? 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
All depends what you think of Jordan Love, pretty sure B-Flo will have something to say.
It’s one player plus playing in that frozen hell people are always hurt.
Okay I hope I am wrong but I have also noticed the trend that these players who get insane contracts also get hurt early in season or a total bust ( scheme is just not a good fit or they get complacent, etc) He’s amazing and I hope he stays healthy and makes Dallas feel stupid 100 times over tho
Omg, I can’t believe it. I can’t believe Jerry Jones would do this. I am thankful, but damn.
Yeah, cuz the Cowboys have been there soooo many times in the past few years.
not with that QB.
Yup. Just like he made Dallas Super Bowl contenders.
HA!!!!!!!🤣
They got a good deal but it doesn't Sb contenders by a longshot
I hope you haven't recorded next week's Distraction episode yet because @drewmagary.bsky.social will want to talk a lot about this
Nope! We’re done with the NFC and decided the Packers were bad! It’s settled law now
@davidjroth.bsky.social @minakimes.bsky.social we're all counting on you two now.
STATE LAW
Here’s hoping that holds up in court
Despite this addition, I am still hoping Detroit wins the division...
Their problem was their offense sputtered when it mattered. Love has proven to be highly inconsistent. Micah does not fix their biggest issues.
All the more reason to bring in a generational pass rusher who can potentially give the offense another series or two.
He will surely help them as a whole - but, when you only score 10 points in a playoff game that you lose by 12 what will a series or two yield? 3 more points? Best of luck - gonna be a fun season.
???
The Packers lost to the Eagles 22-10. Their offense was utterly pathetic. An NFL team averages about 9 or 10 drives each game. If their shit offense only scored 1 point per drive in the game so far giving them another drive or two won't change the outcome of the game. What do you not understand?
They lost more than half of their starting O-line in that game. I guess you could just assume that would happen again, but I doubt it.
Ok - cool. I am just pointing out this will not fix them. Have a great season! GO BIRDS WORLD FUCKING CHAMPIONS
And i know one thing - if the Pack wins it all this year they won't be going to the White House and lick Trump's Bunghole like the Beagles did.
Phillies just got swept by the Mets and Wheeler is finished . Just another front runner.
Cowboys or the packers?:)
Huh? Is this real?
They are going to be mid to late-round firsts, and Kenny Clark may be exiting his prime. Great trade for the Packers.
Plus it was almost certain Clark was going to be a cap release after this year. So two late 1sts and a guy (who i liked) that was probably in his last year. And the 1sts, oh well, picks are unknown...parsons is what he is, proven.
Clark has completely exited his prime. He was bad last year.
He was injured last year, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he could still play some solid D-line. But I don't think he's a Pro Bowler with the Cowboys.
They won’t be mid-round unless Parsons and Love are both hurt. Jerry will picking between 25-32 twice. A steal for the Packers! They make this trade in the spring and Dallas gets far more in a bidding war.
maybe if they found a way to line him up out wide
In my opinion. They didn't give up much. Highway robbery
He’s not a DE, he’s an OLB. He only plays there so he can get payed like a premier DE. He too small to take on guys weighing 75+ lbs more on any given play. Why his back is always hurt and teams run right at him. Cowboys became terrible run defense when he moved from OLB to DE. Ask Packers in ‘23.
The Reggie White deal all over again?
Still no offense lol
The Bears made it to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton as their QBs.
And got wrecked
Still made it.
Lmao - they scored the eighth most touchdowns in the league last year. Top 5 rushing team. 8.2 yds/att passing - 4th in the league. You are a hot mess.
They didn't give up much
Nah he’s too worried about his podcast.
Starting the team draft podcast right before this news dropped has added palpable drama to the listening experience.
Parsons for two picks between 25-32 in the draft is a steal. He is a one of one type player.
NFC North is going to be too interesting. I just needed a steady few years of the Lions solidly on top y’all.
Remind me how the cowboys did with him?
Well they gave up basically nothing. Just another example of Jerry’s ego being more important than winning. It’s pathetic.
Damn it!
Packers made an offseason move!
can’t believe they traded brett favre
First player to not back down, good for um
The Packers never make these kind of trades. I can't believe my team has swung for the fences like this!
I just watched you on NFL Live and you said that it’s a mistake for Dallas to trade him, great job Packers but still bad Cowboys right??
Career playoff sacks... That's not Reggie White walking through those doors.
I would be happy to see both the Cowboys and the Packers miss the playoffs for the next 10 years at least.
Yasssss queen!!!
Two 1st round picks are not enough
Dallas got a reasonable amount back, don't hate this trade for them, but if Love isn't up to the task GB aren't SB contenders.
THIS is the year the cowboys win the Super Bowl? every year that’s the expectation. with this trade you’re saying next year will be the year? Shiiiiiid, what this says is the jones boys are no longer in the football biz, they’re social media influencers now. Kings of the morning talk show A block!
Of all teams. Why.
Jerry Jones didn’t even get Micah out of the conference. Idiot.
The Packers are going to be good for the short term and long term. Thus the two #1 draft picks to Dallas will be very late in the 1st round.
Looks like I am a Packers fan now
Interesting to see who in the media is defending this trade (Bayless, Cowherd, Herbstreit.) They’re fools. And Jerry Jones is insane.
Dude's got a motor, that's for sure. I'm not super familiar with the Packers D. What other parts are around him?
I have to agree. Another disaster for Jerrah. Interesting they kept him in conference. The only real surprise is they didn't send Parsons to either the Eagles or Giants. You can now nail this to the wall and the season hasn't even started yet:
It’s a sad day in Chicago 🐻 ⬇️
I don't know why y'all think Jordan Love is that great. But I guess if you look at him like Trent Dilfer, a Packers Super Bowl could make sense.
I would have traded for a new thumb for Jordan Love if it was on the market, but this is something if Parsons gets in football shape quickly / doesn't get hurt in the process. Still think the layoff led to Aiyuk's injury.
Malik Willis is a hell of a backup
I’m done with Jerry. After 40+ years of rocking with the Cowboys.
Dallas fan here. Not a bandwagon one but real fan. I blame Jerry for a lot of things but this one makes sense. Except how he handled it. Should have done it before draft and shown respect. But people need to understand Micah’s game. It’s all speed.
He is not a true stand up defensive end and has not played true linebacker. He’s more in the line of Von miller. Khalil Mack. Very short lifespan as impact player. Trust me. He can be good. But not dominant
Luka level stupidity by my Boys.
Hyperbolic nonsense. They still are heavy underdogs in NFC north alone.
Wrong! Packers were co-favorites with the Lions to win the North even before the trade. www.espn.com/nfl/futures/...
Bet your mortgage. Lol. Love doesn't have it.
We will see.ots of times teams acquire big names thinking it will put them over the top and it doesn't move the needle.
Thanks, I hate it. Love, Bears fans
Jerry Jones is a fucking clown and the Cowboys aren’t a serious team. I checked out last season and looks like I’ll stay checked out, maybe find a new team.
They could have all of next years draft as far as I’m concerned.
This Lions fan is less than happy😤
Bears fans right now:
Can't wait to find out what Tom Grossi thinks
The NFC North continues to be the most fun division in the NFL to talk about. A great move by the Packers.
As a cowboys fan, how on any level can this be viewed as not a complete and utter debacle.
Jerry Jones whips out his six-shooters, yells "Yeeeeee-Haaaaaaa", then shoots himself in the foot.
Jerry Jones is the worst GM in the long sad history of bad GMs
As a Seahawks fan
We'll be fine. :)
Luka and Micah in one year, sheesh
Micah wins and jerry proves to be a 🤡
That contract is a back breaker though. If he's not pulling the kind of #'s from his rookie season, not the last 2, it's going to be a disaster.
I love your work but it’s even better when you say things I want to hear lol. GPG
but i love kenny clark :( and two firsts on top of that plus the boat load of cash... i hope this kid is ready and hungry to win a ring
Micah Parsons in my division
Except that they gave up their heart and soul in Kenny Clark. As a life-long Vikings fan, this is exactly the type of move we've made often in the past that never worked out.
Keep telling yourself that. Better hope McCarthy can run
He can. But, Kenny Clark was one of the typical Vikings-killers... his being out of the division is a good thing.
Clark was a hell of a good football player but he’s not Micah.
Ultimately, time will tell. Micah's outstanding, but I just don't see how it makes them necessarily a better team overall. Believe me...I've seen plenty of Vikings' "all-in" moves...with the most egregious being the Herschel trade. They never worked out. I really don't expect anything different.
Packers have an average cornerback group and very little depth. they need to get pressure up front to take the pressure off the d backs
Agree! The NFC east opponents said Yay! The NFC Central said Oh No!
Before I knew the details I texted my Packers pal to congratulate him on the Packers Super Bowl victory over the Ravens & said “whatever they gave up was definitely worth it.”
youtu.be/M069hgFJklI?...
Too bad for the @detroitlions.bsky.social
Go Pack Go!!!
And for years to come
Thank me later: bsky.app/profile/pack...
Crazy Dallas hahaha!
Dallas getting a bucket of chicken and a 5th round pick??
The “shareholders” are going wild!
Yas
But you came here to post that which tells another story. Sorry about you inability to cope. 🥰
Ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkk Signed, a Lions fan
For a player like Micah any price is worth it, no matter how high.
God I hate being a cowboys fan
When was the last time the Packers were legitimately bad and had a top 10 pick? If they're what they should be, those picks are probably in the 22-25 range. They do this 10/10 times
Correct!
As an Eagles fan, I'm glad that the Jerry clown show continues and that Micah ended up in another division.
What if they gave up their QB
You fool. Sean Clifford is (probably) going to be on the practice squad. You’ve fallen into our trap. Here comes Sean Clifford, the NFL quarterback
Could you imagine a penn state QB in the NFL
RETVRN
Help me, Mina. I am in crisis.
Lmfao. No it doesnt
What no it doesn’t. Who’s in the secondary
RIP Caleb
Figured you'd be used to being the Packers much younger, more pathetic brother by now. This is what triggers you?
Vikings fan checking in to agree
Lions fan checking in, buckle up y'all.
Talk about a slugfest division
Everyone will be on IR by week 13.
Either the trade is a redo of Reggie White to the Packers OR it will be the Herschel Walker trade, but for the Packers. There is no in between.
Tbh I think this will be just like the Khalil Mack trade for the Bears. They'll be a pain in the ass to play against for a few years but ultimately they aren't going far in the playoffs.
He doesn't fix all their problems, but him being 26 really sucks. He could be a complete menace for nearly a decade
Definitely would prefer more like the latter
Same lmao wtf is this right before the season.
And we have outside of Aidan Hutchinson... *checks notes*... Uhh... Marcus Davenport? Oh shit. I hope Brad Holmes is gonna call a few teams in search of a #2 pass rusher.
I’m sure Hutch loves seeing what Parsons got paid though lol but yeah I’m hoping we can make a move.
Somebody will protect Caleb… Right? … Right?
Go Pack Go. Don't worry the Bears are undefeated for the last twenty years in bad mouthing the Packers in the off season.
Shit
Over/under on Caleb sacks is set at 6.5 😭
Drinking the pina colada will be more humane for Caleb than what’s coming.
As much as everything sucks right now, this may suck just as much for Bears fans. I couldn’t be happier! Poor Caleb.
Also me as a Cowboys fan. The Cowboys will never be good as long as they are owned by the Jones family and there is a salary cap. The worst owner GM in the league. Maybe you can take comfort in the fact that Micah is kind of a prima Donna and Im not sure he will be good for their locker room.
Go pack go
As a Lions fan I am writing Brad Holmes a STRONGLY worded letter
“I could draft better than that”
Sure wish he went to Tampa 😭
Ehh
This trade crazy
Remember when the Titans traded away AJ Brown? This is dumber.
I know Parsons is a once-in-a-generation talent, but as a Cowboys fan, I'm cool with this. I'm worried about Parsons' long-term potential given his size and durability issues, and they get two 1's, a DT, and financial flexibility. It does remind me of the Walker trade; here's hoping.
It’s the crossover for me.
I can't even work out what they had to give up that matched the holes in the Dallas team.
"Micah Parsons is the ace up their sleeve. The Packers are gonna be trouble."
If Parsons were a ginger---Jerry Jones would overpay him....
They didn’t give up a damn thing… Jerry jones got worked like the failing dotard he is
Someone needs to get power of attorney over Jerry. Either that or he's betting it all on a GB superbowl.
Ditto
As Packer fan, I approve. Also how many more times can the Packers snatch the hearts of Cowboy fans?
This is the correct analysis.
Naw
They didn’t give up much.
Wow
As someone who has spent 30 years molded by Thompson/Gutekunst "we have impact players at home" thinking I'm a little traumatized by the price tag but hopefully this will pay off down the road.
“We have impact players at home” is the perfect encapsulation of the past 20 years
I'd also like to say that if we did trade two first-rounders, I'm not even that mad. We were just going to draft a lineman or trade down anyway (2025 excepted, and that was probably because Rog told them they couldn't).
Great point! Honestly like it even more after thinking about it that way
I've been saying that to friends...since they usually shit the bed on the 1st round pick, this is fine to me, haha
And they gave up nothing
Can we talk about how you spoke your Dynasty QB depth into reality on the Ringer fantasy pod, with Spencer Rattler retaining the job, much to @dannybkelly.bsky.social 's chagrin?
Well, as a Vikings fan, this news just sucks.
Micah Parsons teamed with Edgerrin Cooper. Two rockets in the front seven.
The money is the biggest thing they gave up. They gave the Cowboys far less than market value. Incredible. Go Pack!
Go pack go
Nonsense.
Caleb Williams right now.
Lmao
He's a turd and the Packers suck
Sorry your life sucks so much.
Agreed, just coping and seething a bit!
I know how it can be. Peace.
This year for certain. With 9 up for extensions they are going to have to make some hard decisions going forward.
It still runs through Philly but that defense just got a lot better
Does it though
Wow! I hear Ted Cruz was seen boarding a flight to Cancun.
Underrated comment
As a Lions fan…. Good lort, smh 🤦
Well that sucks.
Except when he pulls a hammie in week one from not being ready.
Literally
All that just to lose to the Lions and Vikings twice a piece, smh.
lol, cope harder
How is an OLB supposed to help with a deficiency at the line of scrimmage lmao. Packers are gonna get ran all over again.
Weren’t they the #7 rush defense last year?
With Kenny Clark, they were. I’m not sure he’s still there, though.
Didn't stop them from going 1-5 against NFC North teams 😂
Remind me, how many Superbowls do the vaunted Lions and Vikings have between them? I know it’s hard to watch your “window” close yet again. Learn to cope.
Ah yeah keep posting through it, I'm about to finish. 😩
I’m not the one posting through it. That would be you.
Again, cope harder
Have to agree, Packers made a good call for a player as impactful as Parsons
2 firsts for a generational player that is only 26. 2 first round picks from the Packers, which have infinitely less value than cowboys picks. It's essentially a 1st and a 2nd in value.
Mmm, nahh
The real winner.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, gosh I love Jerry
He is young and wants to be with young people. You cannot mortgage your future, when you are the youngest team in the NFL.
Is Dallas just trying to exit sports altogether?
Every team is a Superbowl contender at this time of the year.
The city of Dallas has jettisoned Luka Donic and Micah Parsons in less than a year.
$120M guaranteed. This sort of changes the geometry of every contract negotiation moving forward, right?
I read that by some advanced metrics, Dallas has been one of the best defenses on a per play basis with Parsons on the field. And the worst when he's not on the field. Could Jerry be trying to tank so he gets a shot at Arch Manning?
Crazy days.
jerrry jones fails again. the worst gm in the nfl.
I disagree. Second worst. The title belongs to Mike Brown in Cincinnati. He, too, is too cheap to hire a GM.
i disagree.
And the Cowboys continue their irrelevance in the NFL. 🏈
It wasn't much. 30 yo DT and 2 1st rounders that will be in the 25 and lower slots. Dallas on the other hand blew it. Should have traded him earlier to get a better haul.
Party time in America's Dairyland!
Somehow it didn’t make Dallas a contender though. I’m not saying you are wrong but
The difference is that Dallas is run by Jerry Jones
“Run” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.
With their collective head cut off.
Just because they didn't win the Super Bowl doesn't mean they weren't contenders. Until last year, they had 3 straight seasons going 12-5 and were the #2 seed the year GB broke their franchise in 2023
Well, it’s the difference between putting the best defensive player in the league on an up-and-coming contender and putting him on The Cowboys
😂 They are... different teams?
Tbh. GB was already a contender imho, this makes them better
Because the other 52 players are different lmao.
You'd have to trade general managers/presidents for this to happen.
Champ, we got Jerry
Jerry Jones doesn’t run the Green Bay Packers.
Because they drafted a bust for a DT. And their QB got hurt the year he signed a ridiculous extension when a lot of us wanted him to earn the contract, even if it risked a Joe Flacco situation. Jerry tried to negotiate with Larson directly and leave the agent out. That's all you need to know.
I don't think she's saying based on Parsons alone. The Cowboys have under performed and mishandled their roster for years, that factors in as well. Reggie White didn't win a Super Bowl on his own, but he certainly helped.
Jerry saw his own doc sand said: I can do it again. Can you have a recency bias of something that happened 3 decades ago?
Tanking for a Manning before the season starts
Trade their new first round pics and their own with Cleveland to get Arch Manning? Seems like a Jerry move for sure
You could've picked any other team Jerry!
I doubt it very much.
This is how I found out lol
Put it like that….the Boys should’ve done what it took
As a former Cowboys fan I am disgusted!
As a Cowboys fan, I'm done with this team. Like, I dealt with them, but I wasn't too invested anymore. Now, I'm out. When is basketball starting. I want to see Wemby. At least the Spurs are a competent franchise.
Bwahahaha! They might make the wild card in third place in the division again. That's about it. Vikings are going to win the division. Lions second, and Packers and Bears are vying to not be in last place. NFC North defenses are insane this year.
It would be cool if McCarthy works out for us, but I doubt it, with the controversy at Michigan, and there's two new homers on the team who want it more.
And, I am saying that with the expectation that Carson Wentz finishes the season, as I have said all along after Daniels, Bo Nix was the best QB in the 2024 draft with the highest completion rate of any college QB.
Packers GM can borrow that T-Shirt from the Rams GM after they win it all.
Cowboys will never excise the Dez Bryant drop at Lambeau.
But all anyone has to do is run or pass to the other side of the field. One LB or Edge rusher does not make the Packers a contender.
Trading away the best player at his position in the league is never a good move.
Besides what they gave up in the trade, they are also giving up multiple future players because of the money he commanded. I’m guessing that was part of Jerry’s calculus.
1 player does not make a Super Bowl team. He might make a difference, but you still have Love at the helm. Good luck. #GoBirds #FlyEaglesFly #Packers
Lmao - oh, buddy Bless your heart
Well his note to Cowboy fans doesn’t make it sound like he wants to be with us. That’s a little concerning regardless of any contract his guy negotiated
