I've realized that most dating reality shows peak now with seasons 1-3 before internet fan bases overdo it, or unfun gaming is figured out from contestants
The way the shows are structured are vastly different as well... Look at, for example Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, or Chopped compared to The Great British Baking Show. There's no manufactured interpersonal conflict, and in fact you regularly see snippets of contestants helping each other!
This was my first season watching Love Island and it just felt like a slog. But the UK version this year had a different feel. I don’t know if it was just a good cast (most had regular jobs) for UK but curious about if seemingly less audience input both on the show and social media played a role.
It’s ruined both
I'm curious what would happen with Love Island if they took the audience influence out of it at least to some extent, both in terms of ratings as well as the toxicity
