My mother is from North Dakota and has lots of family still there. I've asked them about their state bank and they universally love it. Not one of them would support forming it if it didn't already exist.

(Not many people know about North Dakota's state bank, the only one of its kind in the country. It's the Green Bay Packers of banks. Kind of.)
My colleague Michael Lansing's Insurgent Democracy from 2016 provides a nice overview of the non-partisan league. To rescue the Democratic Party (and replace the failed DFL) we will likely need a new initiative to populate the ranks and turn the steering wheel.
