Interested in other acts that follow this trajectory, or are the Doors unique in this respect?

Good question! I can't think of any right now. I feel like my love of, say, The Beatles, Byrds and Stones has been much more consistent. Apart from the fact that I'm much more into the mid-60s incarnations of all those bands now, whereas at one point it was mostly the late 60s/early 70s versions.

This is very center of dial, but in your recent post I saw the Grass Roots among the jukebox singles that inspired Mould and Westerberg. My take after almost 60 years Young me: every song GR puts out is great 20 something me: 🚫💬 60 something me: damn, Grass Roots really had some bangers!

I lost my taste for both the Doors and Prog rock in the Reagan years. Coming back to ELP, Genesis and that ilk but doors still leave me cold.
