Showed the 7yo and 11yo Monty Python and the Holy Grail last night and all morning they’ve been saying Ni loudly and proudly. The 11yo now wants to watch Spinal Tap and Airplane. The next couple of family movie nights are gonna be fun.

Genuinely interested how certain posts—especially the ones like this that are just little brain droppings—go big and others that have more meat on them, so to speak, don’t.
I think the same all the time
Maybe how it lifts the heart
This is the best! Please buy some coconut shells. 😂
My guess is nostalgia.
It fits! These are definitely movies that are beloved from generation to generation.
Spinal Tap sequel coming to a theater near you this October 2025!
My kids are a little bit older, but I'm going through the same list now. Missus is not impressed.
Picked a bad time to stop sniffing glue...
Have you shown them the "Spam" sketch??
Raisin em right. Altho man some of those jokes would not be made today
This right there is excellent parenting!
And the torch is passed to the next generation. In a year or two, give the older one a copy of Hitchhiker’s Guide.
Ni way!
😂
Soon, the Meaning of Life!! Can't wait to hear about them singing "Every Sperm is Sacred" when they're at school. 😂
Until they go to school and tell some kid “your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!” 😂
Dude, give em D.C. Cab, too. I would mention Hamburger the Motion Picture, but that at least wait til 1 of em is 14.
Awesome
Monty Python and the Holy Grail makes a lot more sense if you've seen Excalabur.
No, not that Excalabur.
and so another generation is born....
Beware 1980's PG. Full Frontal Nudity Shot in Airplane. I watched with my kid.🤦 Spaceballs also has an F-Bomb. Also watched with my kid
Couple years before they're ready for Blazing Saddles, though.
Are they practicing silly walks?
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the funniest movey of all time IMO.
Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion, Clueless & Legally Blonde are 3 comedy movies that accentuate the female POV & are family friendly too. 🎭 🍿
I showed my son “Plan 9 From Outer Space”. The next day he wanted to watch “Robot Monster”…..it started with “Life of Brian”.
Yes, Airplane is a must!
Not quite ready for Monty Python "The Meaning of Life" 😳
I introduced Monty python to my son around 10 or 12, he loved it too.
Have you done "Bad News Bears" yet? Classic CHICO'S BAIL BONDS Let Freedom Ring
You might be hearing “Don’t call me Shirley!” a lot soon…
If you don’t mind 5 solid minutes if ‘fuck’ then my kids loved The Blues Brothers. Also it has Nazis getting squashed.
A person after my own heart. Huge Monty Python fans in our home. My daughter’s first full frontal nudity was when she as 13 yo while watching… yep! The Life of Brian. I’ll just say she was apoplectic! Great memory. 😂😂😂😂😂
You’re raising them right!
Yes, I was told I went too far when I showed mine the meaning of life.
Parenting at its finest!
Loved all those movies. I would love to see Airplane again
top secret!
Those children are getting a proper education with Dad there to monitor any issues 😆.
we too grew up saying “NIIII” and laughing our behinds off at eric idle, john cleese, month python. didnt do us any harm. i still have more affinity for british comedy, tv and film than ‘merican. that said, turn them on to the original cast of early SNL episodes next🤣
Great move. Start ‘em young.
Don't forget to show them Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstein.
One of the all time great movies along with Dr. Strangelove.
Couldn’t be a more perfect age to first watch Spinal Tap
Next stop, Life of Brian. My personal fave and - I think - Python’s best film.
Bad News Bears is a good one. They will be AMAZED at the bad behavior.
#raisingthemright add Princess Bride, the RUS’s were my kids favorite. Labrynth and Never Ending Story
V good dad.
I remember the first time I watched the Holy Grail with both of my boys. It was a great day. I did this with my nephew too. Lifelong bond after that.
Parenting done right.
Nice! Don't forget "Caddy Shack" and "The Naked Gun". Fun!😂
Best childhood ever! I watched Monty Python The Life of Brian when I was around that age. It answered so many questions.
I absolutely loved sharing classic comedy films with my boys. Their favorite for ever was Space Balls. They've seen it probably 100 times. Lol
Just wait until they *really understand Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator" and Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher." Gotta love the 1980s!! 😂
👏👏
Mine loved Python. We also introduced them to old Dr Who. They became instant fans.
11,11,11,11…..11
Time Bandits!
Sean Connery looked lush
I was scrolling down going Time Bandits .. Time Bandits …and there you were …
Next: History of the world part one. All Mel Brooks to be honest.
Teach the children well!!!! The Monty Python shorts are also brilliant! My brothers used to reenact the skits to universal hilarity.
How did you explain the spanking with the hairbrush?
I heard so many times my now adult sons tell each other when they fell out back “Tis just a scratch”. Make those memories. They stick. ❣️
Surely 11.
They're ready for Yellowbeard...
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no way to establish a system of government! The man said his equipment could pinpoint a purr at 400 yards, and Eric being such a happy cat was a piece of cake! Stuck in my head since my pre-teens too! ecky ecky ecky ecky pakang zoom-poing! NI!
Be careful about airplane. Watching some of those movies from the '80s is quite a shock these days with their the misogyny and racism. You might have a lot of explaining to do!
🔥👏
The Brady Bunch movies are funny
Real Genius and Top Secret are fun
American Graffiti is a classic with the best music
Don’t forget Caddyshack
Yes
My favorite movie ever! I love the opening credits. 😁
This is called good parenting 👍👏
This is the way. 👏🏼😂
FYI - "Ni" is "No" in Ukrainian ("Hi" in Cyrillic).
My kids got most of the movies mentioned between about 7 to 11... would watch Flying Circus and Dr. Who on PBS every weekend.
Maybe there will be time for binge watching “Father Ted”?
Parenting done correctly. When she was 12 years old, my daughter walked into my office and asked, “Da, have you ever heard of Wu-Tang Clan?“ I smiled inside and realized, I am doing something right. She also loves Holy Grail.
Don't forget… @wutangforchildren.bsky.social
Already follow them! When my daughter and I were at the rock ‘n roll Hall of Fame and we entered Wu-Tang Clan as potential nominees. When the entries appeared on the overhead monitors, some guy looked at us and exclaimed “Wu-Tang Clan?” derisively. I turned to him and said “yes, for the children.”
This is one of the joys of having kids!
How cool is that! I want to come over! 🤪👏👍💯
LMAOOOOO oh no 😂
This is excellent parenting.
I love this. I saw that movie around that age as well. Classic. Love the killer bunny.
THE GENERATIONAL HUMOR HAS CONE FULL CIRCUIT!
Excellent choices💯
Ucky ucky ucky fatung!! 😅
We brought our kids up on the likes of this and Red Dwarf. Good parenting jobs done on both sides, I'd say!
Parenting done right 👍
My kids still say “run awaaaay” and “no one expects the Spanish Inquisition “ They are 40.
And you have the perfect setup for turning to the 11yo and saying “You go to eleven..”
We began our five year old daughter on Mel Brooks movies and Monte Python. Now, as a grown woman of 40 her husband tells us she has the BEST sense of humor and her sarcasm is on point.😂 We did our job!
I never understood that NI joke. meanwhile, i laughed my ass off while watching And Now for Something Completely Different (1971)
And there is always the Life of Brian or simply Monty python and the flying circus episodes
Best part about Airplane as an adult is getting the jokes that went over my head seeing it as a child. Ex. The little girl’s coffee preference. 🤣
Time for the original Pink Panther
Night at the Roxbury and Little Nicky, my kids loved them!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9NC... You may like this
But this one goes to 11. Enjoy, such a cool dad.
The late scenes with Elaine and the inflatable auto pilot should lead to some interesting family discussions. "Why's the balloon smiling?"
Watching "Airplane " is a mandatory rite of American childhood.
Follow us with Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles
you sir , are a good man!
Parenting done right!
"Just a flesh wound." 😂🤣
Surely you can’t be serious
What a great dad! They ARE the nights who say Ni!
Airplane!!! I remember watching that with my parents 😂😂 all those old spoof movies were a riot. Naked gun too!
Excellent! Don’t forget Mel Brooks movies! 😁
The scene with the French soldiers and the castle and the stupid insults is comedy genius!
This is excellent news! Finally, some proper parenting.
Dad Of The Year right there.
My sister (6 years older) took me to our small town local theatre to see Cheech and Chong “Up in Smoke” when I was 11. It helped shape who I am today lol 😆
Is the “Meaning of Life” next? “just one more tiny wafer!” Slightly more crude perhaps lol. Maybe a couple more years.
You should give them a shrubbery
Top Secret is a must.
Parenting done right!
Good lad! Your kids sound awesome.
Good on ya da! A well rounded comedy repertoire is important when raising the wee ones. Carry on..
Hilarious, at least they're not farting in your general direction!
I was about that age when I had my first monty python experience! I remember saying "bring out your dead" while waiting in my 3rd grade lunch line.
Ni!
You are raising them right!!!
Parenting done right ..
See how they’d do with The Court Jester. “The pellet with the poison’s in the vessel with the pestle. The chalice from the palace holds the brew that is true.”
Oh boy, now this will be rattling around in my head for the rest of the night 😅
Danny Kaye. Too often forgotten.
That’s a good 5 movies… 3…
Airplane has a little toplessness in it, in case that is not your thing
“David, Smell the Glove is here.”
Omg I showed my 10 year old the same movie at the same time and they’ve been saying Ni all day too! But we went the other way and watched The Fifth Element tonight
I dont know maybe little young for "have you ever seen a grown man naked"
Or how to inflate the autopilot..
Or the jiggly boobs
Dang, you hit the motherlode with the kids appreciating that! I showed "Airplane" to my sons once when they were younger, I was the only one laughing and it made me feel really bad inside. My future as an unsuccessful dad joker was preordained from that moment forward.
Time warp next
We want "A Shrubbery!"
Cheech & Chong, coming soon..
They will learn to speak jive and not call anyone Shirley
Don't forget Bill and Ted. "Be excellent to each other."
You gotta raise 'em right.
I watched Rocky Horror Picture Show with my kids. My daughter decided to buy st out singing I’m just a sweet transvestite in the grocery store. Thank god we were in California.
Are they ready for the Life of Brian?
You're raising them right 👍
Raising the little scamps right! Gave my middle schooler this line on a little twerp who was bullying their friend…
Did Holy Grail and Airplane with the kids. Now to try Spinal Tap. Great parenting tip.
Never forget Flight of the Conchords!
I showed that to my kids when they were young and a lot of the musical stuff passed over their heads as they didn’t have enough experience. A few years later they loved it.
Father of the year! Now build a large badger....
Throw in The In-Laws (Falk and Arkin).
Python's "Life of Brian" is better (imo) than Grail. Every kid should see it.
Best parent ever (besides me, 'cause I did the same to my children and they loved it) Don't overlook the 80's teen flicks like "Better Off Dead" or "Weird Science". They'll love 'em.
Pour every light we've got on the field! (Trucks tipping house lamps off the back)
Still love the coconut horse sounds, the knights of nicht and the killer rabbit.
My 14 year old thought some of the jokes in airplane inappropriate. Eg 'ever seen a grown man naked' or relating the autopilot. Things change
Don’t forget the original naked gun, police files.
It's an entirely different kind of flying...altogether.
Might need to cough when Nigel says the name of his piano piece is lick my love pump.
Thank you for properly educating your kids. I’ve resorted to cultural literacy training for young employees so they understand what it’s merely a flesh wound and but it goes to 11 means
Love it. Did that with my two boys (now 17 and 15). If I tell my youngest that "she turned me into a newt" he tells me that "I got better."
Add Top Secret! to your list.
I've done the same with 11 y.o. and, interestingly, both Spinal Tap and Airplane didn't really land (badum-tss) because they have topical humor that he's just too far removed from to understand. But Holy Grail, Young Frankenstein, Duck Soup, even Modern Times absolutely hit despite their age.
My best friend I've ever had since sixth grade and I became friends over a "nibble me bum" reference and I love that it's how we met 😂
Must establish those proper enlightening cultural immersion experiences. GOOD DAD!! 👍
Here's hoping your tv volume control goes up to 11!
and in af ew years, "Used Cars"
Don't get me wrong. My dad's in the running for top spot, too. I grew up on Blazing Saddles, Airplane!, Police Squad (the short-lived TV show), Soap, and classic Cary Grant films like Arsenic And Old Lace.
I think my oldest was around 7 too. The Black Knight and Brave Sir Robin left him crying gasping for air everytime🤣🤣🤣
"'Tis but a scratch..."
The Meaning of Life! (And, you realize you're doomed to hearing "Ni" until your brains dissolve and dribble out your ears, right?)
Wait until they find the Fish Slapping Dance and proceed to watch that on repeat for an hour straight, cackling like madmen.
I love this! Our son loved discovering movies with us. 8 years old, swearing he would work at a movie theatre. Which he did as a teenager. He then went to film school and works in the field. When I need a movie recommendation, he’s the first person I text.
We all picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.
Much better content than Prager U :)
Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?
Took my spawn to see Spinal Tap in the theater! It was great. Now I need to show them a… A what? … … A GRRRAIL?
Parenting WIN!
You are in the PEAK parenting time!!
I watched Holy Grail and Airplane with my 8yr old and we had a blast. Some stuff in Airplane went right over his head or I had to give context, but I completely forgot about that quick topless scene which honestly, wasn’t that bad.
Spinal Tap 2 is coming out!!
Tell them to go find a shrubbery.
Do g forget Princess Bride!
😆 have fun! My boys loved all those. Add “Scary Movie” 1 and 2 for weeks of hilarious lines.
Otto Pilot!
Your eldest has now reach the optimum age
👍😊💯‼️
Don't forget Naked Gun!
Bring out your dead.
"It's on the vector Victor".
Do Young Frankenstein too!!! And Princess Bride!!!
Father Of The Year!
But that's not important right now, and, stop calling me Shirley.
This made me smile so big!
Better than hearing “I fart in your general direction”.
Parenting level: expert
They haven't asked for halved coconuts?! Amateurs. 🙏
(I am jk. Social media is a hellscape and I don't want to be misconstrued as *actually* insulting children.)
The most difficult question facing parents today is when to do Austin powers?
🏆🏆🏆
I took a resident from my mother-in-law's care home to his neurologist appointment. I refrained. Please clap.
