"Arthur's Theme" ❤️
Argh! I literally just got the Rick Moranis Ride Like The Wind song from *his* birthday post out of my head
Classic album.
🎶 “Saaaaaaay you’ll be mine!” 🎶
The backstory on Ride Like the Wind is fantastic. I had no idea until a few years ago that the song was written while tripping on acid in the car and dedicated to Lowell George.
People think of him as a pop singer but he’s a really accomplished guitar player as well. Off course when you stand by Eric Johnson for a few years you are bound to learn some things.
Happy Birthday! 🎉🥂 And, thank you for "Sailing," "Arthur's Theme," "Laura," "Never Be the Same," so many more! 🎶💜
Sailing Away is so memorable! Love that song still.
🎶👌
I owe my knowledge of this gem to the creators of the Yacht Rock meme
Wow.. What memories.. I wore out the cassette of this album in my car from listening over and over.. "Sailing" is still a beauty! ❤️
They got a small interview with him on Music Box: Yacht Rock: A DOCKumentary on HBO. Which I think was a decent documentary on yacht rock, if anything, it was a fun watch.
Great pop album
What a superb album this is ☮️🥰
Have a very funny story about working in a record store and trying to convince a young JHS age kid that there was no way this cd was what he wanted. He insisted. Rung him up. Less than hr later woman storms in, screaming “Which motherf***r sold my son this white-ass bulls**t?!?” 1/2
2/2 Sheepishly raise hand (like I’m in JHS myself) & hear “how the f*** could u think a young Black kid could want this white-ass-nonsense”. Said I begged him not to buy it: no use… FFWD 1 Tues. later,in the box of new releases 2 blk kids w/pants on bkwds- ROTFLMAO. Kris Kross =/= Christopher Cross
Fuck, I'm old.
Massively underrated.
Indeed.
This album is responsible for my existence. My dad was working for Camelot Music when this album came out. He sold a copy to a woman he would end up marrying. Then a couple years later I showed up.
That’s awesome!
Priceless!
That’s beautiful, thanks for sharing the story and photo!
Actually I gave the severely abridged version of the story. The whole story is actually quite insane. If I wasn’t constrained by a character count I give the odd and insane twists in the story.
OMG, he's 74?
My favorite story. ultimateclassicrock.com/christopher-...
It’s a great one!
I have that album!
Sailing is a comfort to my soul & Ride Like The Wind is such a masterpiece. 🎺⛵️
His later stuff is really good too. Avalon is a jam.
Happy birthday Chris. Found out that when Deep Purple's ionic guitarist Richie Blackmore couldn't play for a show, Christopher took his place. How 'bout that?
Amazing guitar player.
Thats a band not a person.
but did you tarp?
🤣 no need!
