I was told that the Turkish government sponsors dentistry because the tourism it brings is good for the economy. #TheArchers

I can imagine! But I also clearly remember, years ago, when I was about to go on hols to TRNC (basically Turkey) & had a tooth abcess, my dentist here not just treating it but giving me extra antibiotics to take with me, in case it flared up again out there. He was clear about avoiding TRNC dentists

I think if I were bald I might go for that. But definitely not veneers, bum and bosom enlargement and Botox lips etc. #TheArchers

Yes possibly me too but I'm not keen on having an anaesthetic unless in life threatening circumstances #thearchers

I feel it’s wrong to mess with the body you are given. Don’t take unnecessary medication, let the body heal itself if possible, no unnecessary surgical interventions. But I’m not anti-vax, that’s mad IMO. #TheArchers

100 percent surgery only if necessary it’s never risk free

I don't disagree exactly, but the further you dig down into that argument, the more complicated it gets. What does 'unnecessary' actually mean? Is medication for an underactive thyroid necessary? Surgery for a cleft lip? A squint? Sticking out ears? It's thornier than it first appears. #TheArchers

I think we all draw our own lines. I have had similar thoughts regarding transplants, and how far would one go? Necessary is as necessary does… I think my grandmother used to say that! I have a feeling though, that Amber may regret her trip! #TheArchers

I was pro transplants till uncle died during one which apparently not as uncommon as you’d hope. Also radical cancer treatment saved my mother twice but frankly to 14 years of ill health and comfort to us but very poor quality of life for her.

Yes, I have that feeling too. And I suspect the scriptwriters will be paying attention to the old BBC mission statement ‘Inform, educate and entertain’. #TheArchers

I suppose I meant unnecessary intervention that could be termed ‘cosmetic’ that could be fixed by exercise or a better lifestyle. #TheArchers

I'm sympathetic to that argument, but there are so many marginal cases. As we're talking about teeth, what about straightening them with braces? It's not strictly cosmetic, but it's usually not absolutely necessary either. #TheArchers
