Most screws don't have much shear strength. Maybe look for deck screws. But they'll just break in through the windows instead.
A quality brass screw should be strong enough. The application is for preventing home burglary. They sound of a door being kicked in does not garner the attention that the sound of breaking glass.

A sheriff showed up at my door on Monday with what looked like a warrant. He said "are you Renee?" I said no. He said "are you apt #2?" I pointed at the big #1 on my door. My first thought: "I've been mistakenly identified as an immigrant and they're taking me to a gulag".
