Is a national thing; though folk do similar Worldwide. Is called “yarnbombing”, and have seen post boxes, park benches, wire fencing, bicycle stands and all sorts decorated. Is always a joy to see. 😍🧶 Sometimes is anonymous, but sometimes the crafters will include some kind of label.

I’m with Moraa. It’s amazing!! I thought, when I first read your post, you were talking about the boxes at individual homes. These are the big boxes put outside the post office and city locations. No, I’ve never seen this art before. Wowzers 😊

My SiL makes them but sadly has to put them in her garden as so many have been stolen. She’s in Devon but we also saw some in Tarbet, Scotland earlier this year. They’d upped the ante and done bollard covers too

Yes, they’re like crocheted dioramas of various scenes. They’re always really well made and they pop up over night. They get attached to the top of red Royal Mail post boxes. No idea where the idea came from. Here’s a couple more, the first one was shortly after the Queen’s death in 2022.
Has it been 3 years since she died? An icon who earned UK’s respect as a young woman during WWII.
