The first time I ever saw it as teenager they showed it in a local theater they did the intermission and everything! That was the first and last time I've seen it in a theater though and I'm pretty sure it was prior to the remaster

When they say "you couldn't make that movie now", like, literally, a 4 hour epic with an intermission is something Hollywood has no place for anymore, and I weep for that. Incredibly epic film, an all-timer.
