btw the Swedish Ivy that used to be on the mantelpiece was a 1961 gift to JFK from Irish ambassador Thomas Kiernan. Ever since it has been a consistent backdrop to some of the most famous White House meetings - until Trump replaced it with his golden golf trophies. Where did it go? @motherjones.com
