Let me guess, you voted for Adrian?
Regardless of who I voted for, a bigger turnout would have been better. The more people who participate, the more representative the result. NB I'm not saying I hope the result would have been different, or that I wish it was. Just that it would have been more representative of the party as a whole
I voted for Ellie, and Adrian. Both have shown themselves able to get the Green Party elected in areas we can take seats. Ellie in particular has a proven track record of standing up for democracy and against Brexit, and so had my vote from the minute she stood. Caroline Lucas + Jenny Jones agreed.
Greens imho just committed political suicide by member, getting someone to try and outcorbyn corbyn will always be a failure. also a lesson from greens across europe is that the most successful ones are seen as moderate. not this - bsky.app/profile/cpcn...
Maybe they should have tried to be more convincing then, because grey centrism just lost you 20000 votes.
'Moderate' these days means supporting genocide and appeasing the far right.
"Moderate" - kissing the asses of big business "Extreme" - advocating for workers and the poor "Moderate" - Throwing minorities under the bus for votes "Extreme" - standing up for minorities "Moderate" - fascist immigration policies "Extreme" - an efficient and capable asylum system
Language of control
You can't accuse Chowns of that. She has been rock solid on this, calling it out powerfully in Parliament. The only policy concern I have with her is on trans rights - and in the midst of the current transphobia, that's a big concern.
agreed
It was the gradualism that was the other big differentiator. It's just not what the Greens need right now.
My mind is more focussed on the general need to disrupt and change the neoliberal orthodoxy. Any politician making these noises should be supported.
Funny the one significant green I've never really liked was a supporter of them. I have no particular issue with either Ellie or Adrian myself although their attempt to both sides trans rights is alarming And sure I disagree with Zack on a fair few matters of policy too.
You could make some wine with those sour grapes.
