China will never invade Taiwan as long as TSMC's EUV fabs are the world's most advanced. No one else knows how to make those fabs/chips. An invasion would cripple China's economy (and everyone else's)

You think this communist state will never nationalize an industry?
I'm saying that if they invade, the fabs will be destroyed, causing economic calamity. It's a deterrence.
I bet they have more control over their missiles than that.
Taiwan will destroy the fabs, not China. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Ah, I see.
Alternatively, China claims the U.S. could destroy them. Either way, a war would almost certainly damage or destroy the fabricators. Even a blockade of Taiwan that inflicts no damage would cause power outages that would force the closure of the factories and market.
Yes, but hasn't Drump induced TSMC to open an American plant now?
TSMC moved 6 factories to the U.S. and 2 of them are capable of 2nm now (still risk runs and not economically sustainable, but that’s just a matter of time). So an invasion wouldn’t really cripple everyone, just China (only in short term).
Can we still assume rational actors running countries in light of all the crazy, self-defeating stuff the USA has been doing lately? :D
