As someone who designed custom kitchens for 15 years... you are correct. (Incidentally, my ideal kitchen is a smaller u-shaped kitchen with a nearby walk-in pantry for extra storage)

YES! I like to spin in and dance around the kitchen with the Dear Wonderful Hubby. A kitchen island would mess with that.
