I have never heard of anyone refinancing a current mortgage because the new home they were buying is intended to be their primary residence. Maybe that’s a thing.

Zeldin and Duffy are likely in the clear. It's quite common to purchase a primary residence loan then move and obtain another primary residence loan. Purchasing a vacation home as a primary residence is pretty sketchy.

Let's face it, mortgage fraud to lower interest rates is not as bad as burying your dead wife on a golf course to avoid paying all taxes.
Trump was convicted for mortgage fraud. Yet, he can sit as US president while calling on top officials to resign over dual mortgages. Our laws are nonsensical, especially when they come to Trump and what he can get away with.
