But why is it the only plan they offer? Are they getting such a better deal? Or are the managers of UH friends with the owners of these big businesses- and why can’t that be questioned?

This isn't easy to do since most customers are businesses and corporations. The system is a complex mess

But what if employees pressured their bosses to change insurance carriers? What if people started pushing back?

For smaller businesses that might work, but the larger ones either give multiple options, or don't really care unless a large amount of the employees really take issue. Even there, it's not really that simple. I'm all for resisting the system, but the way it's set up makes that incredibly difficult.

And also, UHC gets pushed as the major choice for those entering Medicare supplements (& Advantage) plans. It may get to the point where healthcare providers and insurance companies can no longer work together at all. System collapse may be the only way out

Corporations go for the company where THEY get the best deal- very different from what individuals are able to obtain.. Employee push back won’t matter if it costs them more since they care more about shareholder value..🤷‍♀️

Ever wonder why insurance companies fight back so hard about full disclosure about what they charge for different corporations - would bet it has something to do with not wanting other companies to see what a bad deal they have been getting compared to others
