Ben, we used to use oxalic acid to remove stains from the teak decks on yachts.
Also put some teak oil after that. Still have to get all the wood again and under the stuff being glued. I find teak oul takes a few coats to absorb well. 4/x #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #furniture
Likely, the areas I am gluing may cause problems in the future (when it rains again). But, this table is likely to be used for potted plants! So... not too concerned about it. Also tightened all the screws so it doesn't creak. (To be continued after the glue dries on the repairs). 5/5 […]
@ai6yr what kind of glue did you use? I am inspired to fix a teak chair by your post. :)
@hisstogramma I used Tite Bond weatherproof exterior wood glue (which you can find at your local hardware store). I think there are other polyurethane and epoxy or other longer lasting options, too, I just used it because that is what I had on hand.
@ai6yr thanks!
Finished table! The oil is still drying, but had to put it into use before my son's watermelon got eaten.
@ai6yr I just love the way teak ages. Beautiful table!
