You have choice of airplane seats. You picking aisle or window?
You have choice of airplane seats. You picking aisle or window?
window
depends on the length of the flight long ones usually window so I can curl up, short flights always aisle to get out of there quick
I used to always be an aisle girl because I'm tall, but you know what? The window seats have the most underseat room, plus you can fall asleep leaning on the window. I rarely if ever pee on planes, so now I always go for the window seat. Turns out it's way more comfortable than the aisle.
In my youth, window bc I like to see In middle age, aisle bc I need to pee
This is exactly me
Aisle unless it’s not a full flight and I can get a row to myself. I don’t like getting boxed in.
I used to be somewhat agnostic about aisle or window, but now they basically force you to keep your window shade closed if you're in the window seat, so what's even the damn point, lol. Aisle all day.
Who does that? I get doing it while boarding so it doesn't get hot, but they shouldn't do that while in the air.
I’ve been in a sitch where literally everyone’s window is closed except mine and I feel self conscious about opening it
Yeah, this is it. They turn the lights off in the cabin before takeoff and all the shades are already closed because that's what they make you do on the ground, so then you're the only schmuck that has their shade open, and people glare/stare at you until you close it again.
Or they just straight up tell you to close it, like that's something they can do, and... ugh, I'm already making myself anxious, lol.
Lufthansa’s policy is to keep the shades up/open for Takeoff and Landing. They check for compliance as they also check for seat belts/seatbacks/tray tables and device holders.
AA had an issue a few years ago with the FAs on the 787 locking the windows to full dim. We had to put out a memo for them to stop doing that.
LH even put this in their video and announcements. I was impressed that anyone actually cared about it this way. I know that on AA it varies for early morning flights, mostly only keeping the first rows up and everyone else’s can be down. Also sometimes keeping them all down.
Yeah they keep the ones near the exits open for safety reasons.
I remember that happening on a DFW-ORD 787-8 flight that I was on in 2018. They kept the windows dimmed until after sunrise. (Not that I wanted to look directly into the sun that was on the right side of the aircraft at the time.)
aisle. i ain't wanna see the earth
Window
aisle i'm trying to ignore the fact we're hurtling through space
window if i'm by myself - if i'm flying with my prone-to-airsickness beloved, he gets the window and i take the middle despite haaaaaating it.
Window so I can look outside sometimes
Great clip!
THERES A MAN ON THE WING OF THIS PLANE! AND OLD TIMEY WOMAN CHURNING BUTTER!
Aisle almost always (especially any domestic short haul flights where there really isn’t enough headroom in a window seat)
Aisle is GOAT
I have been in a pod on a long flight now, so everything else sucks. I’ll never be happy again.
Older me does like aisles on longer flights because waking people up is awkward. But usually I’m with my kids anyways.
I prefer window generally yo see the terrain. If I have been there before the aisle is fine.
Flight under 3 hours in the air, I'll take either but prefer window so I can lean against the wall and nap easier. Anything over 3 hours, give me an aisle seat so I can get up as needed.
Window. I'm not getting up again until the plane has landed.
I have had to go to the bathroom REALLY BAD when my seatmates were asleep. Never again. Never
Window. I need to see out that window or I WILL puke on you. Oh, they give you bags? No, I am aiming for you, the person who took my window seat
Aisle, but the small regional jets with 1 + 2 seating configuration are best of all. Actually, this is our preferred seat. No bathroom available, though.
Aisle if red eye; window otherwise.
Window. I don't have to pee that much
A11. That was the seat that dude was in that walked away from that plane crash
Gimme that window for that delicious plastic pillow sleep
Aisle. I've hogged the window often enough and I think at 6'3", I should probably be maximizing leg room whenever I can.
Yeah I feel like I’ve seen clouds enough
Aisle all day, specifically seat D on most domestic flights because my left knee gets grumpy if I can’t move it frequently.
Aisle is freedom
Team aisle here.
Window 4eva
Window bc so often the person next to the window closes the shutter immediately upon boarding. I am not often in the air. I want to seeeeeeee!
Aisle, so I can stretch at least one of my legs.
Window, north side of airplane if an E-W flights, or coordinated with the time so that I'm opposite the sun on N-S flights
window
Aisle. Easier to get to bathroom and better leg room, even though I am not tall.
Aisle, always - with my left hand at the aisle. Funky musculature means I naturally sit a little diagonal. Much more comfortable to have the more forward leaning shoulder (and dominant hand) on the outside than pinned on the inside.
Aisle. I don’t like feeling trapped. 😅
Always the aisle. Hate asking people to move
That too, but I need a clear shot to an exit. 😂
Middle seat is hell
Yes it is.
Especially when they’re a weirdo
I hear ya
👍
I will do window when I am carrying on only and do not have status so I can hopefully not have to gate check (window gets you group 3 on United, aisle group 4). Otherwise I prefer aisle.
Window. I find it easier to nap.
Window. I'll be looking out at the world while everyone else is on their screens.
Longer flights: Aisle Like an hour and a half or something: window Though I chose the middle seat on a flight recently from MSP to YYC
Kennothy the MIDDLE SEAT?
Here’s what happened: There was an insanely cute girl who had the middle seat and she’d never flown near the Rockies really before. So, since she was really cute and I was hoping to maybe impress her, I let her have the window seat and I took the middle.
Kennothy I was literally mad halfway through this skeet
I mean, you were there and all…
window, I want to be as out of the way as possible, and I never know peace on the aisle
Window. I need to be able to look out & see the plane isn't crashing
What if it is IS tho
knowledge is power
Window. The fewer people I have to interact with the better. Also then I can lean on the side for napping. Plus it’s colder by the window.
Yes the having a thing to lean on is an underrated aspect.
having the window in premium economy is CLUTCH
See I get aisle because I don’t want to interact
Hmm, that is the opposite of my experience. Also, last Friday when I was on the aisle I had to hear the woman in the middle of the row beside us’s conversation the ENTIRE FUCKING FLIGHT from KC to Chicago. An issue I would not have had from the window.
I just don’t want to have ask people to move so I can go to the bathroom
Yeah, that’s a rough one.
When I used to fly to Singapore for work, I always got the aisle seat. Sometimes some bitch would try to beg me to switch and I was like, fight me. Her: but I have to use the bathroom a lot. Me: me too and I promise I will never fall asleep. (Also I booked early. Suck it.)
I'm a window guy. I usually don't have to get up, and this way I don't have to get up for others
I also have guaranteed headrest and a few extra knee inches
The one flight where I’m like eh I won’t need to pee is the time I’ll have to pee four times.
I'm 6'3" and drink to excess in the lounge and on the plane. I need to be able to stretch my legs out and piss every 10 minutes 😆 So yeah Aisle all the way for me
aisle (preferably right)
Window.
AISLE4EVER
That’s right
I don't have to clamber over anybody to pee, I can virtue signal by allowing other people to pee, and I can pretend I'm on a train and not suspended 3 billion miles in the air by magic with no control over anything if something goes wrong
Also if something goes wrong I’m first in line to elbow children and old people out of the way
you can open the overheads and begin heaving obstacles in their way as you clamber over the crash victims
Depends, domestic I will probably pick Aisle but international long haul is always window.
See I’m reverse
Aisle on a long haul gives you nowhere to even attempt to sleep. I always bring a squishy travel pillow to squish against the window. Also I usually will be travelling with someone so if the pick Aisle then might possibly get the whole row.
I usually select the aisle because if I need to go to the bathroom I don't have to bother anyone. I don't usually need to go to the bathroom on flights, but it's usually worth putting up with all the aisle activity for the peace of mind knowing I don't have to ask for permission if the need arises.
Exactly. Like what if you get the drippy poops
I hadn't thought of that. Travel does fuck my system up, it's true. Now I have a new fun fear to consider.
Lol, nah travel immediately bungs me up. I won't be pooping for days.
My primary concern is peeing ability
I used to be but I tend to limit my fluids on long flights and if I am lucky I can just crash out until breakfast.
I try and honestly it rarely ever happens but those times it does…
Honestly I get it what everyone is saying but I just would rather my peaceful lil window hovel on that 14 hour flight leg My game changer was my headband headphones. They double as a sleep mask and muffle noises. I still wake up all the time but I can block everything out for the most part.
Window
And longest flight I've been on is 10 hours, have never had to pee on a passenger airliner.
This might be tmi but when I was young I was on a flight to the UK and my tampon started coming OUT and it was painful and the two people next to me were sleeping so I just sat there and suffered until breakfast. Never again
Window
Aisle for leg room
Window unless my husband is with me then he gets the window so I can sit in the middle with the armrest up and use him as a pillow during the flight
Window. I love looking at the geography/geology of it all.
Window. It breaks my heart now that I have Petey that I will forever be relegated to the middle seat (his claustrophobia means flying is already a challenge, he needs the aisle to even hope to be a little at ease).
The one thing this arrangement has going for it is, the person I have to climb over so I can get to the lav is my husband, so it's not weird having my crotch level with his face as I scramble out.
Yeah if you’re traveling with someone this changes this scenario
I was devastated when I booked our seattle tickets that there were none of those two-seat rows on the plane, so I that I could have my window AND crawl over Petey as needed.
Window because I have anxiety and need to see proof that we aren't crashing
Window
aisle every time
This is the way
Aisle. I like to be able to stick my legs out and stretch. Plus, I can lean out into the aisle, which makes my row mates more comfortable as my shoulders are wider than the seat.
Also, my head will hit the ceiling in the window seat. Airlines are discriminatory against big and tall people.
Anywhere that isn't on a Delta flight
Left side aisle
Aisle. I'm tall and broad-shouldered though so I'm always jammed up against the wall if I'm in a window seat.
I think everyone who answers should also say the longest flight they've been on because that's a big factor. I'd say window but I've never been on a flight longer than like 3 hours so that plays a role
I wouldn't survive a 6 hour flight in the window
Yeah like two hours I can tolerate window but otherwise no I don’t like having to rely on the generosity of my seatmates to let me out to pee I would prefer not to talk to anybody
biiiiig window fan; I took my first ever flight at 20 and it still feels new and exciting to me to see clouds at eye level
11 a
Aisle, my shoulders are too broad and window squishes me into a parenthesis
I've always picked a window seat. I like being able to see...
Window. One time, on a puddle jumper flight from Salina KS to Kansas City, I got to sit in the copilot seat. Now THAT was some scenic beauty...and the best seat in the house, imo.
window
Aisle, every time.
Up until age 25, window. Since then, aisle. With age, one has less bladder control as well as decreased tolerance of other humans.
Yep same same
I’m an aisle girl I want to be able to pee as many times as I need without social anxiety and climbing over people
Me too. I would rather someone bother me to get up than me bother someone else about it
Me too, although I really love a window for gazing at the vast world outside of the tin can I’m flying in, but, I will say, unencumbered access to the bif, especially on long flights from hell, wins🥇!!!
Aisle. Always.
So, if I’m flying alone I’m evidently Bizarro Meghan: I’m window for kind of the opposite reason. I’m not going to get up—too anxious—and my social anxiety doesn’t want to manage moving around for strangers. Now, when I’m flying with people I know? I generally don’t care where I sit in the row.
I always spill out into the aisle a bit and can generally avoid peeing, so I prefer window. I have no trouble sleeping on flights so being able to slump onto the cabin wall is nice for that as well.
Window for me as I don’t usually need to pee on long haul flights and I enjoy the views.
If you pick middle just unfollow me now you pervert
Yeah the only acceptable time to say middle is “because that’s all they had left”.
I have wound up in the middle because the usual practice is @ms8.bsky.social books window, I book aisle, and we hope against hope that nobody picks the middle. If they do, well, I generally get to make their day ;]
Yeah this is also perfectly understandable.
I once flew eight hours from the UK to North Carolina in a very back row middle seat and I mean middle like the middle of five. Nope
And you’re tiny! Imagine me trying that, nope nope nope.
God exactly. I am always uncomfortable on flights and I’m half your side
*size. I cannot imagine being a large person on a flight
There are so many little things that most normal people wouldn’t notice. Like how public sinks are typically very low because of ADA restrictions, which means I’m either doing a half squat or straining my lower back while washing my hands. I should be a protected class.
half the time mirrors only come up to my neck, how do they expect me to take thrust trap pics like that?!
I’ll protect the tall boys
Listen short people should also be protected
That was me flying overnight from Honolulu to Minneapolis. Never again
Needless to say, I did not sleep on that flight
I don’t think I’ve ever been able to sleep on a flight. I’m a side sleeper who needs good head support. 😂
God same tbh. I have to be extremely extremely tired. I’m a face down sleeper
I even got one of those “face down” sleeper pillows for planes but meh
Face down sitting up That's the way you like to.....sleep on airplanes
Absolute hell
On my flight to/from Barcelona I got a back aisle seat on like the middle set of 5 seats. I was so freaking thankful haha
I’d swallow my whole bottle of clonazepam.
window. I'M A DAMN METEOROLOGIST LET ME GET CLOSE UP TO MY BABIES!!!
Awwww
