I’m so excited to sit in a room full of adults and be talked at for days, absorbing content will be neither differentiated nor will the delivery be best practice, in hopes that it’ll inspire and prepare me to be the teacher my students need and deserve 🙃

It’s such a recurring theme, you’d think some districts would catch on. I’ve received 7 emails reminding me that we only have 30 minutes for lunch. A hard 30, better bring a lunch because there’s no time to leave 30…
This is my first summer not coaching (so I was actually able to step away) and I’m struck by both how long and how short summer is. I’m excited to get back, but I’m also thinking that we just did all this. I can’t imagine so much has changed that it requires days of meetings

Teachers: We’d like to use the time b4 school starts prepping our classrooms and first week lessons. District: You will be spending the time b4 school starts in a series of day-long meetings where you are talked at about things we care about. Teachers: 😐😑😐
But make sure your lessons are engaging, differentiated for every learner, take into account the prior knowledge of your students, incorporate formative assessments to monitor their progress, and opportunities for reassessment and mastery.

I could make more💲a district over, but being in a school where, apart from the day admin basically reads us the handbook, we are given time to meet as teams to set goals/plan and entire days just to prep in our classrooms or wherever we work best (coffee shops and home included!) is worth staying!
I decided many years ago that the pre-semester faculty conference was designed to make us all profoundly grateful to be back in our own classrooms.
It’s true! Never am I more grateful to work with students than when I’m forced to be at work without students 😂
District wide Zoom presentation with no built in break times, delivered in lecture theatre seating. Presenter had a DJ which is "fun". Can't wait to see what gets delivered this year!
My first day back is tomorrow. I’ll be sitting through those fun things on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mine is tomorrow and we have campus PD on Monday and Tuesday, then district PD on Thursday 😭
