I bet some will like the idea, many will not. Certainly it won’t be universally popular. That’s why I’m being careful not to suggest that the JAGs will be inherently biased (which I don’t think is true), but am principally worried about the system that’s being set up.
If there is an ethics office to deal with questions from these JAGs who are temporarily IJs, would it be the DOJ ethics office? How soon before they get questions or requests for ethics advice about competence?
I think in theory they would be derailed away from the military into a civilian role, but the exact manner of doing so is unclear to me. Regardless, I expect legal challenges on that issue as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the regime orders these military judges to wear their military uniforms instead of robes while performing civilian IJ duties.
Yeah for those not aware, right now there are IIRC three “Immigration Adjudication Centers” where judges sit in offices and hear cases via WebEx. But with the admin demanding in-person attendance for most hearings, there’s going to have to be some place for the immigrant to go to, also.
Also being an immigration judge is kind of a weird job, they get moved around the country randomly, and they are not exactly judges
... or NONimmigrant to go. Totally expecting US born citizens to get roped into these courts on trumped up pretexts.
