Because the general society connotation is that it is a slur. Too many people have used it that way for so long, it's taking a long time for it to comfortably be reclaimed by that community and reintegrated into civilized speech. For now, even 50% of those meaning well will be assumed foul

I had thought the Q was for "questioning" - meaning someone who is questioning whether one is straight, gay, bisexual, etc. I still don't know what the IA+ means.

Intersex, asexual, and the + is supposed to mean "and others" but they're still inserting letters.

Thanks! Hopefully that about covers all the sexuality bases? 🙄Last year my granddaughter taught me the significance of all of the different types of Pride flags - I had no idea there was more than one.
