One of the big bets in the BBB is that accelerated depreciation will kick off a wave of BFI to support growth. But it looks like the slowing economic conditions and policy uncertainty are far more important than the tax break.

Accelerated depreciation and even immediate expending of capital assets didn’t work in Canada either

Weren't corporate taxes already quite low--the accelerated depreciation would seem like it could only raise the ROI on a fixed investment by a couple of points. Of course, that's not nothing, but one wonders about the magnitude of the effect.

6 months in and Trump is still talking about new tariffs on almost daily basis. It does not take a genius CEO to figure out what to do with extra capital.
