I still have my X account for checking on fandom stuff (as many fandoms have not yet migrated here en masse) & let me tell you if you have deleted yours…nothing meaningful is happening on there. There’s no discourse. It’s Matty Yglesias & Jon Favreau patting each other on the back, pretty much.
Even the fandom stuff on X is not enjoyable anymore bc the proportion of terrible people there has increased. I last logged in to see content from the INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE panels at San Diego Comic Con & immediately learned there’s a fan scandal bc an IWTV stan on X doxed/swatted another one 😬
Just so much toxicity and often times its the most toxic individuals in fandoms that seem to thrive over there, its really just not a good place for most fandoms anymore especially those who just want to enjoy things and have healthy discussions
Yeah I totally understand why some fandoms don’t want to move bc of technical reasons (no photos/videos in DMs is a big hindrance) but seeing how toxic the fandoms have become is a great argument to making the move anyway. And there’s even not a lot of substantial discussion happening on there
Also someone in the IWTV standom on X apparently decided to send Jacob Anderson & Sam Reid sex fanfic about themselves? 😬 Anyway I got those TALAMASCA cast announcements & Sam tossing his hair gifs & logged out.
I still think all we need here is longer character limits per skeet, better gif library, group chats, and photos/videos in the DMs to pull over all the (non-cray cray) fandom people over here and that’ll be that.
