every single vote scolder i've gotten to talk to me like a human being admitted they mostly felt scared and powerless. some people just turn politicians into fandom shit, but some use this stuff as a way to try and want some guarantee that 2028 is going to be Fine, that things Will work out
it is extremely frustrating when many people - including groups dems have thrown under the bus or are eagerly looking to do so - have been dealing with all sorts of fear for years and they're just getting a taste of it, but fear and anxiety is what drives it for a significant chunk of people.
this pattern feels most obvious with the people who will admit that the dems have done terrible things, and biden did mess up horribly, and etc, etc, etc, but still want people to shut up. they want the fear to go away, and people criticizing makes the fear rise back up in them.
