There have been a series of puff pieces in the NY Times about AI. All of them smell as if the writer was paid and not just by NY Times. The latest from Harvey Lieberman, claiming the glories of AI provided therapy, sounds like the work of a bought guy.

Yes, a similar thing has been happening to The Guardian in the UK. Not every article on AI is a puff, but plenty are. I think this might have something to do with it.

There’s so much money invested in AI, they need a positive narrative to combat the daily news stories about AI gobbling up careers, encouraging suicidal thoughts in chats, etc. The scariest thing about AI is that if it f*cks up big time, there’s no way to know where to begin fixing the black box
