This is totally unacceptable behavior! But pls don’t put all who use and advocate for Bitcoin (NOT „crypto“) in the same basket. There are many left leaning, progressives who understand Bitcoin as a technology that can empower human rights and be used against financial oppression by authoritarians.

On Twitter I am getting backlashed when I‘m speaking anti-Bukele, anti-Trump when I am on Bluesky speaking about Bitcoin nobody listens or it’s mostly the same anti-„crypto bro“ stuff.

sounds about right. I have no idea how to unprogram the tulip, ponzi, crypto bro bad takes that they learned from whomever. Now, they simply deny the utility out of spite because of a name they associate with it. its very unfortunate.

It will eventually progress from sad to hostile as bitcoiners go from “fools wasting their money on magic beans” to “just lucky” and finally to “morally bad, greedy people who should be punished for destroying the economy by hoarding wealth”

absolutely inevitable. Bitcoiners will be vilified by those who have not done the work to understand it.

Yep. I still have hope that this is the same as it was with the Internet in general. It was „only for criminals“ too and it developed into this tool for all. But the losing out is much higher and much more visible with BTC of course.

yes, the perfect lens in which to view the broken money we all use now. Those who did the work now to understand will greatly benefit from adoption of the timechain. Those later will still benefit once they make the jump, just not as quickly as those being early in the S curve.

A millions times worse. Imagine the internet but it was also used by Trump and sons to crash the economy and cause the debt crisis, and also boiled the oceans for no reason other than spite, caused lethal noise pollution and by the way, drove electricity prices up. We've got to keep educating.

It really is a shame. I see a similar phenomenon as the Left is rejecting physical fitness and responsibility for one’s own health, embracing seed oils etc, out of reflexive impulse. Had a interesting chat with ChatGPT about tribal psychology in reference to it. It’s hurting them. ☹️

Agree. Buying political power is anti-democratic. I am definitely not on the crypto bros side. By pushing the „crypto criminals“ narrative you are negating that Bitcoin can be used for good. 25 years ago the story was that the Internet was used by criminals only too and yet here we are.

You know how crime is actually way lower but it feels like it’s terrible because of the media? Same thing with Bitcoin, the little bit of criminal activity. .03% given transaction volume at >50B a day vs 4% in USD, criminals prefer un-traceable good old greenbacks.

Where are you getting your information? There’s hard data out there, this isn’t a question of opinion. 0.14-0.40% of all bitcoin transactions are for illicit activities (varies by data source). 2-5 % of all US$ transactions are for illicit activities, that’s over 10x, by percentage!
