I do wonder if there's some deep seeded genetic wiring that tells the brain that fidelity is better than infidelity and what that means exactly. It would have been necessary for hunting and whatnot

But also we have a biological tendency towards eye contact, and focus would be necessary for that. So maybe somewhere deep down our brain always knows what focus is supposed to be and leans towards it when given the option
