highly recommend the 1976 Joseph Losey film "Mr. Klein" with Alain Delon in the title role & in virtually every frame. a brilliant film experience & not a little unnerving as parallels between Nazi-occupied France in 1942 & T***p-occupied US in 2025 become painfully evident.

(2 of 2) It would take 19 years before Chirac gave his "vel d'hiv'" speech declaring "France must accept its share of responsibility in the Deportation" & 25 before signs started going up on schools like the one across the street from where I'm writing acknowledging the childlren deported by France.

(1 of 2) So, @joycecaroloates.bsky.social for those of your followers who understand French: www.radiofrance.fr/franceinter/.... Delon produced too. It touched on a taboo subject: The 'rafle' of the Vel d'hiver in which 11,000 Jews were rounded up for deportation. The film was a *public* failure.

Alain Delon, ooh la la. Hooray for Criterion Channel. Did anyone here see “Don’t Look Away” about art under communism and a Nazi doctor father-in-law?

Correction “Never Look Away” I think about this all the time, as “others” are being targeted for hatred and abuse. What you do to one, you do to all of us, www.rottentomatoes.com/m/never_look...

"This has nothing to do with me"--Mr. Klein insists, until it is too late, & what happens to others whom the law has abandoned has everything to do with him. (Brief sequence with Jeanne Moreau as an enigmatic figure.)
