Nor most voters it seems
Nor most voters it seems
Wonder if they are starting to finally wake up. In WV more Dem primary voters voted for Sanders than for Clinton.
West Virginia hasn’t elected anyone but Republicans to the House of Representatives since before 2016, and both of their senators are now Republicans as well.
My point was that the Dems there preferred Sanders & when some were interviewed after the election - they had voted for trump.
It is not uncommon in the States for people to register as Republicans or Democrats for primaries so they can vote for some candidate they think will lose against their preferred candidate. Would not be surprised if some registered as Democrats to select Bernie but vote for Trump in Nov.
Why would these people want be interviewed about it then? They thought Clinton was just more of the same old thing that hadn't worked for the people - and they were probably right. I find it hard to believe many in WV would bother going thru' all that - they have a lot more to worry about.
In this case you are probably right but I know a long deceased relative of my husband who registered Republican for decades to pick the worst guy to run against Democrats. She would've come up with some plausible story if interviewed!
People are complicated. Your relative sounds very determined. It's hard enough to get people to even vote in primaries which I don't understand. I would care about who my candidate was going to be.
I think it is very different now to when she was alive. Even very different from when I was a kid
That's for sure - more different than anyone could have imagined.
They just elected Jim Justice to the Senate. Can we stop idealizing West Virginia voters?
I don't believe me. But it is curious that people who liked Bernie went for trump cause they didn't see the Dems as a viable choice. They wanted change & Clinton wasn't change. I wanted her to win but that's history now.
Demagoguery is popular. Bernie never had a plan to accomplish any of his wild plans. Think about it.
We'll never know. In Canada & most of the other rich countries Bernie would just be another mainstream politician.
He’s currently in the US Senate. Let’s not pretend he’s marginal.
Are we seriously still talking about 2016?
To be fair I started it. Referring to people who voted for Bernie in the primaries & then trump.
A number of people so small it was completely insignificant, but conveniently allows some to forget the candidate they adore remains married to a sex pest
Misogyny won & you got trump instead.
So? She would have been wildly better.
She sure would.
Maybe she would have We will never know because she failed
A broken leg is better than a broken neck Does not make it good What does it say about her character that she is still married to that man? A man known to have committed sexual crimes and then lied about it under oath
Most of the women I have known, I'm 74, have been sexually assaulted or harassed at some time in their lives. I wonder how many women are married to sexual predators & they don't even know it.
Pretty sure it says you aren’t inside their marriage and have no business pretending you do
Some Trump voters here would have voted for Bernie Some trump voters voted for Obama twice in WV. A lot of it is people viewing the candidate as being against the establishment. Populism is key.
And far too many Dems think that being "centrist" is the key. Well trump has proved them wrong twice.
It's not that simple Ms. Canadian. Yeah if the centrist you pick has huge weaknesses like Hillary or Kamala or has a maximum of four months to campaign yes you're going to have problems.
Thats Ms Canadian/American - dual citizen.
Progressive Democratic candidates still lose big in WV. It’s populist but still a very conservative state.
