There is a huge area west of Michigan and east of California that wouldn't draw many passengers imo. I'd love to see bullet trains up and down the East Coast and the West Coast. For the most part, busses are substituted for trains here. They don't need the numbers that trains do.

My daughter is visiting friends in the UK. The friends don't own a vehicle. They have gotten around by bus trains and planes. No rental cars. So proud of her navigating the UK, Denmark and Norway all by public transit.

Trains are woke and DEI. Only lots of pollution is manly.

A 7 litre gas guzzler to achieve 50 mph and drive for 8 hours is manly. The Chinese would get you there in an hour and a half. Woke as fuck

It's amazing how you can get around in Europe on public transportation and you can figure it out not knowing the language! Then I give you Union Station in Chicago! good luck! Lol

I've never flown for many reasons. Americans don't seem to respect public systems of transportation like other developed countries do either. For as many times we've had to repave roads using a flawed system that generates nothing but heat. We could probably have bullet trains to each city.

Once a month I travel from a major city to a small city: 540 km, 4:30 h; in the evening to another city: 420 km, 3:38 h. Add a short walk and 10 to 20 minutes by local train to and from the train station. Nice to shake your legs, anyway. /2

Do that in this time with a car in one day, if you have the concentration for that. Two weeks later I go back: 250 km, 1:41 h. Since I can plan ahead, it's pretty cheap: ~40โ‚ฌ for the first day and ~25โ‚ฌ for the day back. Plus, I can work on the train or watch a movie or read.

I had no idea rail passenger transport in the USA was so sparse. I guess that's because they fly everywhere. If only we hadn't succumbed to the Beeching cuts in the 60s, our rail network would be amazing today. All the local lines and stations that were closed are now nature trails and cycle tracks

They only ever think commercial goods. Itโ€™s never about the people in the US. Thatโ€™s why we donโ€™t have healthcare for all; money.

We used to have more bulk transport. But the humans here have been trained to 'be and feel independent' they must buy and drive 'one person per automobile' by the oil and automobile companies. ๐Ÿคฃ We are presently converting all the abandoned railways into asphalted bicycle and walking paths.
