Not exactly - it takes 60 votes to end a Dem filibuster to bring a bill to a vote (assuming Dems filibuster). The vote itself only needs a majority. Interestingly, the filibuster is just a rule that could be removed by majority vote though that’s unlikely to happen (that’s the “nuclear” option).
Thank you for taking the time to explain. I thought it was a majority, but felt relief when I heard 60 votes. I should really be studying all the inner workings of passing these catastrophic bills! I have slightly above average knowledge of Congress, but learn a lot when I ask questions!
