People join the national guard to help fight fires and evacuate people from floods, they have no control over the situation here or where they get deployed. ICE agents can all get fucked but I (a vocal progressive) have absolutely no problem with the national guard. Maybe I'm naive.

National Guard is made up of ordinary citizens who sign up to help when needed—often, as you note, in natural disasters—leaving behind their families and jobs to do so. They absolutely do not deserve this kind of malicious hate.

And - this is really important - if they don’t have orders, they don’t get paid. So their orders are to cleanup trash. I’d go the opposite route and stand next to them and clean shit up so there’s nothing for them to do, and they have to go home.
