The deficit was never DOGE's concern. If it were, it wouldn't have defunded the IRS. The deficit increases $7 for each dollar it's defunded. Trickle-down tax cuts don't make a claim of a 7-to-1 ROI. They don't even break even. But DOGE defunds it and leaves the stock buyback bill (BBB) untouched.

I doubt they meant bullet proof vests and weapons except to get them out of the hands of ICE. The IRS has always had an armed enforcement branch under the criminal investigations unit anyway but primarily they staff up with forensic accountants and fraud specialists when given enough funding.
