I’ve told all my European friends to stay away. One friend, who’d booked last year, arrived at JFK yesterday and it was 3.5 hours to get through customs. She said it was total chaos. Nobody should come here.

Going anywhere can be risky right now. Not because of flight safety, but because of politics. As the world order continues to flux, there's no telling how others will respond. No matter your nationality.This could get worse than how Americans were hated during Bush's Iraq War in the 2000s.

I interned in Italy in the 2000s. It was a mixed bag. Euros were mostly okay, but immigrants and others expressed hate towards Americans. Also anti-American graffiti on walls, billings, bathrooms, etc. Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" contrasted Bush's War. People generalized all Americans.

Needless to say... I think we're way beyond that now. Europeans, Canadians, Greenlanders, Mexicans & maybe even Australians are disgusted with Americans. Not just immigrants, "developing nations" people on "the margins" we ignore. When you deeply immerse yourself abroad, then you truly understand.

Nothing new to see here... if you recall during his first term, our passports were downgraded because too many Americans refused to get vaccinated, and Trump's politics on that issue, and others, was absurd. Now, this will likely be much worse. Whether or not we can go, they won't welcome us.

Canada's been changing their plans for the last month or so at least. and I am hearing that some usual Canadian snowbirds may even be changing their plans for next winter as a result, including some selling their 2nd homes/condos on the Gulf Coast.
