Thanks! I've come to the conclusion that I need a new bike. I did this on an old banger of a mountain bike that I bought second hand over a damaged ago. Now salivating over gravel bikes, send help.

Sell one of Stuβs kidneys and buy a Reilly Gradient π
Ah. Just looked. 3.7k new or 1.5k used π€ Stus kidney it is....
I have a Spectre. It is a fucking awesome whip. I hasten to add I bought it few years ago (2021) before prices went through the roof. Iβd go second hand β Ti frames are pretty bloody bomb proof and more comfy than Aluminium
Nice. Very nice.
If the frame is good you may be able to improve it immensely by upgrading with new group sets, wheels, chain, sprockets, saddle (always important!!) etc. If youβre doing your cycling on the road, a decent road bike is revelation compared to a mountain bike. Properly quick!
I think I want more speed. I like flying π¬ I also want lighter. My bike is heavy. Also want bigger wheels.
What Owain says. You could start with a Cro-Moly steel road bike frame and build up. Bikes are not complicated. Half decent components will be a revelation
I think you would love a road bike. Wheel sizes are pretty standard (unless youβre using a folding bike) at 700 for road bikes, a little smaller and fatter for MTBs. Hybrids are available as well which are mainly road focused but with some off road ability. So much choice. I love them all!!!
I love my hybrid. It's slightly fatter tyres make me much more stable on road, and don't compromise on speed that much. And about 2 miles of my commute is along a dirt/gravel track and I've got much needed grip.
