His keyboard skills will really raise spirits on the day of revolution.

I know he’s been very vocally pro Palestine
I haven’t checked but the origin story of him opposing Starmer’s policies is almost certainly because Labour has refused to press the big UNDO BREXIT button
Don’t think so tbh
I’d love for you to be correct in all honesty
He got tonnes of abuse over Palestine he stuck his neck out when loads didn’t and I respect him for that tbh
Absolutely fair play. Palestine and trans rights are the two big and very easy ways to identify good and bad instincts.
I think Femi's probably an ok guy just not very well-informed and easily swayed.
He, generally, has decent politics (despite leaning more toward the centre left) Brexit and Fbpe just fried his brain.
Honestly, this kinda includes me as well. I haven’t always been a Stalin appreciating comrade, to my shame. Covid was the thing that really hardened my politics.
In the last Labour government, word around the civil service was that she was a bit shit. 🤷🏻
latecomers always welcome 🫡
There’s three kinds of people radicalised by Brexit: people who’ve gone full flagshagger, people who went on to learn about structural oppression, etc. and people who listen to The Rest Is Politics as their form of activism. You did it right.
The hilariously awful thing was we were directly affected by austerity — my ma is disabled, had her PIP stopped, had to go to court to fight for it. There’s a widely naive part that just… accepts it as “normal”?
I think this is the intended effect. “There is no society” and the politics of Ambition as set by Blair. Now I’d very much like to see everyone even tangentially involved against the fucking wall
This is the thing that people clinging to centrism are refusing to reckon with; everyone is getting radicalised by the failures of late capitalism and the climate crisis. It’s just a matter of which direction.
This is why liberals are dangerous — they are set in their ways, sure of the word and its relation to capital. Apolitical people can be educated, radicalised; the first thing Mao did was hand out pamphlets to the farmers and peasants.
Didn’t he only show an interest in politics because of Brexit? Imagine if he could have found his way without being dragged along by obvious wrecking campaigns like “the people’s vote”
Yes, iirc, he himself has said he wasn’t particularly interested in politics prior to 2016
imo he'd have been significantly less terrible if he'd avoided talking about immigration because he was absolutely awful at it. most other things he was generally ok at. i will give him credit for taking his portable keyboard on a date, one of the funniest things i've ever seen
The more I think of his portable piano date, the funnier the whole situation gets. I’ve flipped on it now, she should’ve given him a second date, because that was funny as hell. Justice for Femi.
Let’s get the hashtag going #GetFemiASecondDate1
yeah he spent years absolutely refusing to listen on that score, but still managed to listen to fascists (on an EDL march iirc)
I’m being conciliatory on this thread. I didn’t want to mention his casio!
i'm gracious enough to say i'd let him play for me, but he's absolutely paying for dinner
You’re a sweet and generous human
The platonic ideal of the vaguely leftist leaning middle class person who had their cozy life mildly inconvenienced by brexit turned radical centrist.
That’s pretty fair
