EXACTLY Fantastic post , they know you cant get the paycheck, the insurance you need if you get struck down, no business is going to keep paying your insurance and pay you while you need weeks or months off! SS,MEDICARE is the most protective security insurance we have ! Its a Fact !

At 50, I decided I wanted to add further education to help more of my disabled Veteran clients and others with health issues. I was informed I was too old for further education. I was untrainable. Said to me with a callous straight face by some 20-something brat.

I work for a public community college. I can tell you our mature students are some of our very best students.

I was told being a “life long learner” was the goal. To say- untrainable- like a dog? A rat? Wtaf. That twit will age out far younger than 50 I bet 🤣

There are many workers who have worn out their bodies with the work they have done- these are not people who can switch to a desk job- or there are no other jobs near them that are not manual labor

Spot on. Essentially work till you’re 50 and then wait 20 years to get your pension. Live on hand outs and charity. Have no holidays, can’t afford hobbies etc. all while the oligarchs who promote this enjoy any one of their 35 luxury mansions, their yachts etc. yeah great idea me thinks not!!!

I think the only way around that is to work for yourself. I'm 70, but my wife and I run our own business. Not everybody can. Or wants to.

Myself… max’d out on IRA’s, 401k’s & 403b’s. Always selected mutual funds invested in high grow opportunities & markets involved in products customers must have. Stay away from fads & me too tech.

Friend of mine 45 with decades of management, computer and telecom experience got laid off. Two years and 100 interviews later you know what he's doing? Loading trucks at UPS because no one would hire him. The people they did hire? Less qualified and 15 years younger.

His other job he needs to hold to get even 1/2 way toward the pay from the laid off job? Washing cars. Nothing wrong with either job, but no one cares about his resume ultimately. They see the age first.

I'm 60 and you are so right about that. All my years of experience don't mean anything. 6th month and still looking.

Produced video for 35 years. People retired & I lost accts. Revamped in 2019 to corp. work. 3 clients @ $6K a month. COVID crashed the industry & my savings. Subbed 300 resumes got 2 interviews. I work 24 hrs a wk.shuttling commercial rigs with no benefits. Ageism sucks. SS & Medicare keep me alive.

☝️ I still do an occasional project, have state of the art digital cameras/gear and numerous high end drones. You'd think people would appreciate the longevity and wisdom we possess. It just isn't so in this society.

50+ I am confused by this LOL I enjoy working. I can't imagine getting laid off and not allowed to work cause they think age is an issue. I'm probably more capable than many 1/2 my age - just did 72 blood tests and doc said, "You're Iron Man, now quit drinking, smoking, vaping, and bacon." LOL
