Single greatest action to improve upward mobility would be to have universal healthcare. It would unchain healthcare from employment - allowing small businesses to be started and grow much easier than they it is now

I sympathize deeply with my fellow countrymen, especially my family, who suffer under the political system of social injustice. The extremely hard decisions that I made for the direction my life by immigrating to Europe has assured me, for the time being, healthcare and prosperity. God bless you all
I got laid off in April. I live in New York so I have insurance that is better than insurance from my job. Blue states take care of their people. The trumptards here still bitch.
Same. I was on ACA for several years. I paid a premium under $100 a month because of my low income.
It means loss of med care for children (many handicapped), ability to $ for visiting nurses while/bc you work, it loss of your 401k and employer matching benefits. It blackballs you from consideration for lower-grade positions in govt service bc applications as HAVE YOU EVER BEEN FIRED?
Agree. Job loss can be devastating long term.
Democratic-leaning voters: stop voting for corporate-backed moderates in primaries and vote for progressive candidates who support universal health care. We have the ability to grow the Congressional Progressive Caucus next year and fight for this vital change to our health care system.
God yes. Vote progressive whenever possible.
This is the part of "job security" nobody talks about. It’s not just income, it’s everything else they’ve attached to it.
It's not the loss of either my wife or my own income that would break us. It's the cost of either of us having to get on the others' insurance. With our companies plans, it's stupid expensive to add a dependent. I dunno how people with kids do it. I don't know how single income households do it.
Maybe that's part of the BS. The billie$ and gubmint control might not realize how it's possible, so everyone MUST be cheating and stealing, right? Just a thought that hit me quickly. Ignore if it's BS to you 🫢
Making them, the employer, your Feudal Lords.
So why do ppl keep voting Repub or sitting out? They are responsible for this shit.
Right? You lose healthcare for your entire family in many cases.
Everyone should have Universal healthcare!
If we wanna turn Nazi MAGA Germany into Post-WW2 Peaceful Japan 2.0, we need the evil GOP in 2028 "We're not voting red! Just try and make us...!" Can you imagine how loud Trump and his loyalists will scream in the middle of the night day after election if blue wins 2028?
Exactly!
Exactly
That’s why the fight for the ACA was so intense. That control was being chipped away and now TRUMP is finally cancelling it and offering nothing to replace it.😡
I talked with a woman who works for HHS, she is about to quit because of all the cuts to Medicaid, SNAP and CHIP. She told me that wanted to help those that were in need. Instead, she has to turn these people down due to the cuts since Trump took office.
Vassals hooked on a lie they will never break free from
Damn, I screwed up here... been covering my own healthcare for a decade or 2 now... had I known that I could be controlled by oligarchs and corporations... it's not an inexpensive option, but it works for me.
You’re fortunate to be able to do so. Many can’t afford to purchase private healthcare for ourselves and our families. Getting it through our employers is the most affordable option. Many people stay at jobs they don’t like because of benefits. Before ACA they had to due to preexisting conditions.
Can't argue with you regarding cost as the ACA kept prices manageable, and when Trump came in (his first term) I got to see my healthcare premium increase (now roughly 2.5x). This is something you may not see with employer covered insurance.
Plus the ACA did away with the bullshit preexisting conditions. I hear the Trump regime wants to bring them back. That will prevent people from leaving one provider for another because a new provider may refuse to cover the condition.
I suspect it is worse than that, as recently some hospitals and facilities have closed thus limiting access for many people (don't recall the specific states this happened in). This makes it even harder for individuals (and families) to get/keep coverage (regardless of providers/source).
That’s how you make folks compromise everything they know is right.
The history of healthcare tied to work began after WWII when businesses were fighting over employees. It started as an inducement like a signing bonus. It was never thought out or rational.
There’s always cobra…which only costs like $800/month to use, doesn’t cover much, and is the last expense and headache anyone would want after losing their job.
oh gee,..now add your Mortgage and Auto-Home insurance.. You'd be better off if your Wife left you, and She took the kids..than surviving a Heart Attack. If you pay the Hospital,..your Medical Bills last long after you DIE!!! They lose the House..They lose the Cars. ??
She is right, of course. But, the assumption here is that most jobs in the US, have those benefits, they don’t! And that’s what makes it even worse.
Agree 💯🙏⚖️🇺🇸 #TrumpIsTheSwamp
Exactly! Medicare for all. Now is the time to provide healthcare for everyone as a right. Get the profits out of our healthcare system.
......for a long time. The older you are, the longer it takes to find a replacement and the worse the insurance is.
