9/the culture warriors have realized that while publics educate the vast majority of people (including those they want to send back to the mines, literally), the Ivys and big R1s are the intellectual drivers of US higher ed. Cut off the head and everything else suffers.
10/but the attacks on publics (Florida is the best recent example) set us up for this. BC now people don't value higher ed and think it's unnecessary and just puts people into debt. Not that it doesn't happen bc it does, but it didn't have to.
11/and what is insane is that some of the people who most benefited from the post-WWII educational order are on board with pulling up the ladder for everyone else. Like JD Vance who is a poster child for what education can do. Or my former gov Bobby J who was a child of immigrants and a Brown alum.
12/I 🖇️Bob Jones U because what happened to them is what the regime is now threatening Harvard with. They are turning civil rights law and SCOTUS precedent on its head to turn back the clock and get retribution. /end
