Well, Bessent oughta know about 'performative', if anyone does. I see his statement as trying to put political pressure on the Court. That could backfire. The tariff power in the US Constitution would seem to be difficult for "originalists" to get around. Even tempting for them to make a point.

Couldn't agree more. As said Vance needs to live for tomorrow while DonnyCon is consciously maximizing the grift knowing Beelzebub is waiting in short order. Unlikely JD adopts as stringent a nativist agenda but will no doubt kowtow to tech bros/master Thiel and advance the nerd-reich city-states.
