The first energy projects confirmed/announced by PM Carney are renewable energy. "The ultimate goal is to licence five gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030, enough to power hundreds of thousands of homes." The areas have the possibility of producing up to 66GW. Now we need the Wind West grid!

Nice. I guess they found a nice flat shallow bit of water? IIRC it was found that the offshore turbines have a positive (if unitnended) influence on fish population as htey provide kinda "safe shelter"...
This is one project that I'm super pumped about and it's going to be so good for Atlantic Canada to get them transitioned away from fossil fuels wherever possible. Not to mention the jobs that will come from building it and then operating/maintaining the areas with windmills. This is exciting!
This is badly needed in our region, Iβm hearing the Sydney bight area is a herring spawning ground & I have been fishing for halibut in that area, I know itβs needed but they better not mess with one billion dollar industry to start another, they must protect the fishery

I'd rather be at a beach and if my eyesight was good, just see wind turbines in the distance than see open cut coal mines or coal powered plants. In fact if Wind turbines bother someone, all buildings should that we replace trees and plants with.
me too . Did you know most tall building in Sydney CBD have wind turbines on top of them ? Most people don't even know they are there .
