They just don't get it.
ugh
Exactly. Cry me a river.
Frankly, you can cut the tariffs to zero tomorrow, but until trump and his minions are gone I wonβt even consider American products. Trump is a mistake that the American people must fix for the world to ever take them seriously again.
Yeah, I like Jack n coke. Donnie messed up both
Even if US liquor went back on the shelves, their sales would still be way down because most Canadians wouldnβt buy it.
Absolutely No one can force you to buy the products of a country trying to destroy your economy.π¨π¦
true
Exactly. It's not like Canadians aren't already spoiled for choice in imported spirits, wines and beer. I'll say it again: the only hole is bourbon, and only when people want it straight as opposed to in a cocktail. And my bourbon-loving bro is happy with Irish and Scotch whiskey anyway. π€·ββοΈ
They arenβt officially bourbon, but you can get Canadian made corn whiskey made in the style of bourbon including: BRBN (BC), Bridgelandβs Taber Corn Berben (AB), Bearface Triple Oak (ON), Steinhart Bourbon-style Corn Whisky (NS), and Signal Hill Whisky (NL).
Yep. Sipping afficionados won't touch it, but works fine in bourbon cocktails (mind you, so do other whiskeys anyway--eg Irish in a whiskey sour is tasty IMO π).
It was on CBC radio news this morning, someone whining about how Canadians aren't buying Kentucky bourbon or California wine, and how we were a huge market for them. This is the FAFO stage, kiddos.
While in an LCBO I discussed this with one of the employees. He said βWeβll love you again when Trump is goneβ. Then I shook his hand.
They don't need anything from Canada. Well I'm for giving them nothing. No sales, no buying U.S. products, no tourism, no exports to them etc. The Americans don't need anything from us...give them nothing!
The lack of critical thinking down there is staggering. They never stop to ask themselves what they would do if the shoe was on the other foot. Or apparently take the time to understand how tariffs work and who, in the end, pays them.
Most Americans cant point to America on a world map. Or their own state on a map of the US. Most Americans cant even read. Its sad really how uneducated they have become. Although at the same time some of the smartest people in the world are also American.
They're too arrogant to realize what it would be like if it was them in our shoes.
Certainly thereβs that but I think itβs a lot more to do with their education curriculum never setting foot outside the country. They have no understanding of democratic socialism for example. In fact not very many of their political class does which is kind of astounding.
yep, they have no idea how angry we are
And it is totally justified.
Honestly, so clueless, so insular. It explains so much.
Fuck those ignorant whinners. They start this shit & then they wonder why people are pissed off & have such a low opinion of them.
Exactly
Still not buying
At this point you couldn't pay me to drink their products. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Iβm not sure how well their sales will do in Canada even without tariffs. Most of us arenβt buying American. Lifting tariffs after being lied about, threatened, and just generally treated like garbage isnβt going to make it better.
Went to SAQ (Quebec liquor store) & there's just no sign that πΊπΈ even exists as a country The once predominant section, ie VINS Etas Unis is gone No mention of, Buy π¨π¦ian/Quebec, just their entire πΊπΈn stock zapped out of existence was more shocking to see than the non stop Buyπ¨π¦ian stickers elsewhere
Too bad. Iβm never going back π€·ββοΈ
π―
You could almost support them if their "Woah is me" PR included admonishing what's being done to π¨π¦ with their first breath. But we hear you loud and clear you feckless greedy capitalists w no back bone. So continue to hear us loud and clear...feck awf! π¨π¦πͺπ
Theyβre right, itβs NOT just the tariffs. Canadians do NOT want USA products in our store shelves - we will NOT but them anymore (ever)! #ElbowsUp π¨π¦ bsky.app/profile/also...
I'm with you. π¨π¦π
Guess they better talk to the orange felon then ππ
We donβt want it even when the tariffs are removed
....ya just can't go wrong with Mexican Tequila..just sayingππ₯ππ¨π¦ #choices #ElbowsUp
Screw them! They elected this BS. I hope no one ever buys this crap again..
Badmouthing backstabbers - I am done with the U.S.
Canada produces some very good whiskeys. There is no need for American ones.
We also make world award winning wines π·
I like Niagara whisky and Okanagan wines
π―
To quote Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club: "B-O-O... H-O-O" We did not ask for this. We did not get a vote. So, TFB.
Make sure your next vehicle purchase is one assembled in Canada
And not american
The trucks assembled here are all by American companies.
Looks like some drivers will need to make a choice
I bought made in Germany
So did I last time, but if its Volkswagen/Audi maybe at least the batteries for their EVs and PHEVs will be made in Ontario soon?
I was out to buy a new car last year and I bought an Audi. And it runs on gas. I've owned quite a few American cars. I'm done with that country.. I'm so freaking angry with them.π
I have a 2018 A3 etron PHEV and love it.
when I look back on my car purchases over the years: Toyota Toyota Chev Mazda Honda Honda Honda Mini Ford Mini I prefer foreign cars, sorry not sorry.
Ok. Now you're gonna get it! hahaha Volkswagen Volkswagen Pontiac Ford Austin Mini MGA Lotus Toyota Chrysler Dodge GMC Chevrolet Chevrolet truck BMW Audi Audi So sad, too bad. No more american for me. I'm done. π
I was really missing Kentucky Bourbon until I discovered I could achieve the *exact* same effect by smashing my liver with a wee chrome-plated crinkly mallet.
I tried it but i didnβt get the same buzz
This American applauds you. There were many of us who voted against Cheetolini, but the fact remains too many of us did not. We may all suffer, but itβs a lesson the U.S. needs to learn, it seems. #ElbowsUp
Trade war is not what Canadians ever wanted. The Fat Pig started this&the world despises America for it.Now we hear U.S. liquor producers whine about boycotting their stuff, U.S. states begging for return of Canadian tourists, border towns saying their economies are dead&on&on.Blame your rapist pres!
Please, donβt insult pigs. Unlike that orange aberration, pigs are super intelligent and capable of affection and empathy.
I apologize for my poor choice of words to describe this piece of human shit... Trump!
No letting up! It should be on all products. Sorry/Not sorry. When there is a rapist/felon with more than the early stages of dementia in the WH, the response has to be strong and unrelenting. #ElbowsWayUp
By the way, Canada π produces some very good rye! And of course thereβs always scotch available. Really donβt need American booze π₯ in Canada at all. π¨π¦
Forty Creek has won many international awards. Sat with the owner back when they started near St. Catharines about 15 years ago and couldn't believe this whiskey was priced at regular prices. Have turned many people on to this awesome product!
Never really bought US liquor or wine......we have too much good stuff locally to bother. πβ€οΈ
90% of them couldnβt find Ottawa on a map. Buy Anything But American BABA beats Maga!
I lived in a small Texas town many many many years ago. I'm in Canada now thank god. I talked to someone about Quebec. She did not know where that was. I said you know New York state? She said..ahh yeah. I said well there's a country north of that ..it's called Canada. Oh .. Simple geography..π³
Simple people donβt always care to know anything beyond their back door. Thatβs why we call them assholes.
considering that most of these producers are in red States- whatever sympathy I would otherwise have for them dissipates like so much fart gas....
Too bad so sad. #elbowsUp
@charlieangus104.bsky.social @edgeoerin.com @peipolitical.bsky.social Sorry, the demand is not coming back no matter what happens. We are happy avoiding USSA products and will carry on. π¨π¦π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπΊπ¦πΊπ¦πΊπ¦πΊπ¦πΊπ¦
It takes a little more time to shop and I make do without celery once in a while. Big deal.
Iβve made do with Bok Choi.. Imagination. Imagining all that produce rotting on the vines down there.. Our sweet corn is in nowπ π¨π¦π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπΊπ¦πΊπ¦πΊπ¦πΊπ¦πΊπ¦
Yes, it will be a long time, if ever, before many Canadians buy American.
Yes. Iβm going to need proof that Trump is dead and buried, and solid assurances that the Republicans will never put another Dark Lord in power.
The US liquor producers, most of whom likely voted republican, can go pound sand.
π―π FUCK THEM!!!!!!!!! π
Is there a tariff on US spirits? I only know about the boycott, which is not a government policy.
yes 25% from Trump, so Americans are paying for it
I have to look into it. Meanwhile, we have excellent Canadian products.
And European wine, Irish and Scotch whiskey, German and Czech beer... It's hilarious they think US booze matters.
Meanwhile, they have a huge domestic market that seems not to matter to them. There are no tariffs on domestic goods, that's what 47 is trumpeting.
It's been a positive for me. I'm finding some great alternative products from π¨π¦ or other trade friendly countries.
I want to be 25 years old and rich, I've a better chance the Jack Daniels.
I am originally from NS and have lived and worked in the US for many years. I plan to buy as many Canadian products as I can, regardless of the tariffs. Already planning to vacation in Nova Scotia next summer and every summer after that until I move back home. We need to fight this! π¨π¦β€οΈ
π₯°
The best part is we will never buy their booze again even long after the tariffs and the π π© is gone
Even if tariffs were eliminated, with the EPA/FDA gutted, who could trust whatβs in that stuff anyway? Right now, I would avoid US products right alongside whatever comes out of China.
Oh yeah No federal inspectors anymore or at least not much of them ..who knows what the hell you're eating or drinking.
