That's interesting. In Saskatchewan, they charge the parents $100 per child lunch supervision fee. Seems like NS cares more about children than Saskatchewan does.

I hope folks understand that that is because of a lack of funding from the SaskParty govt and not school boards. They are doing what they have to because of the disgusting financial shortfall from the govt.

When we lived in US 2005-11 the school PTA had a fundraiser where parents could buy all of the supplies in one package. At the time it was @40 US. Everything was there to start the year. If NS/CEs did this with part of the money every kid would have what they need. www.staples.ca/a/content/sc...

There's less waste and people can get their own supplies if you distribute it to parents. They can shop sales, pick out the cat binder they want, etc. If you gave the school district the money they would bulk order something with a sweetheart contract from a supplier who sells boring junk.
