I I learned the proper pronunciation when I was in grade school. I wonder how many kids these days can even point out the Maritime Provinces on a map. We live in different times, many things just don't matter to the newer generations 🙁

Les Outaouais (people from Ottawa) pronounce Dalhousie - Dalhooosie. I used to say it is a house not a hoose and mouse not a moose. They would be very confused and ask if I meant Dalhoosie St. in the market? God damn!

Please. Had a partner born and raised in Ontario who pronounced it "New-found-land". Based on 50 years of interactions with fellow Canadians from across the country I have believed that to be a common pronunciation in Anglophone Central Canada.
