#Canada has an honest-to-goodness treasure hunt on its hands. Organized by the newspaper The Northern Miner, the Great Canadian Treasure Hunt is a cross-country contest pitting Canadians’ deductive skills against the holy grail of geographical guessing games /1 🧡 www.ctvnews.ca/canada/artic...

The Great Canadian Treasure Hunt website is down πŸ˜‚ 504 error - probably a bunch of people trying to find the actual poem. Sounds like another Forrest Fenn kind of thing. πŸ˜‚

Which was a terrible idea... people destroyed nature, took way too many unnecessary risks, lost savings, died... who thought this would be a good idea?

Yeah and even in the end, after the treasure was found there were still treasure hunters that refused to believe it & others that claimed the man that found it had "stolen" their ideas. Money makes people nuts.

I noticed that the organizers had a disclaimer saying that the location has nothing to do with them, so they maybe tried to learn from Fenn's mistakes, but also, who reads the disclaimers?

Really? I didn't read the disclaimer lol I just wanted to read the poem but if they have nothing to do with the location, WHO DOES? 🧐 They're organizing a treasure hunt for...someone else? Is there even an actual treasure? 🧐

Sorry, let me clarify. It seems that it is not related to the organizers. One of them hid it and that one person knows where it is. But I get the impression that it is not like Fenn's in that it was somewhere personal, so digging into that person's life won't necessarily result in a clue.

Oh, I got ya! Yeah, I did see that only one of them knows the actual location of it. I suspect it's likely more about digging into Canada itself. The poem has lots of nods to the creation of Canada.

After reading a couple of lines of the clue, I can honestly say that I am not smart enough or knowledgeable enough to ever find this. I tip my hat to whoever does though!

There was quite an article in the Globe on digging up an old ship in the Mira… Kind of like The Song for the Mira which mentions β€œOak Island gold”.

/2 A weatherproof case with a code redeemable for $1 million in gold. According to the organizers, additional bonus prizes of six coins each, or $25,000, will be awarded to contestants who find one of 12 codes hidden elsewhere in Canada, each with its own clues released monthly.

I read the article & did not see anything regarding the winners having to be Canadian citizens or not but according to the company the contest is open to legal residents of Canada only. Some will do some crazy stuff to get their hands on a million dollars. Not sure if this is a good idea or not.
