Americans have been steeped in bipartisan anti-immigrant messaging that was intended to convince them that immigrants are a problem theintercept.com/2024/09/11/k...

Bull shit. Americans are convinced that uncontrolled immigration is a problem. Most Americans don't believe ALL immigrants are a problem (or even all BROWN immigrants).

Makes you wonder why it wasn't all through fox news then, but resurfaces here now, while trump shreds the constitution and pretends it's necessary. But I'm sure he'll thank you for at least trying to paint Democrats out to be "just as bad." Heck, you may even get some more followers.

That’s the last three Democrats to earn the party nomination to run for president and all three of them either ran on or actually engaged in anti-immigrant policies that promoted the idea that immigrants especially from LatAm and Caribbean were a danger to the United States

The very idea that we can keep criminality out, and that it is a problem otherwise foreign to this land, is a racist lie that all of our leaders push. Dems don’t just accept a rotten framework; they’ve helped to build and sustain it.

That vote is disgusting but unfortunately, this is the way our politics is. Republicans have completely poisoned the well on this issue, driven by decades of messaging from their propaganda apparatuses. It will take years of work to undo the poisonous narrative that so many Americans believe.

Why can’t they speak out in favor of immigrants? They have a soap box. They prefer to cower in their offices and read poll results and take advice from centrists on the group chat with outright fascists rather than taking the case to their voters

US will have a restrictive immigration policy that includes deportation no matter who is in power. Crucial is respecting the human rights of non-citizens, including the right to due process, or else we have brutality and riots. ICE must be replaced with trained disciplined agents and enough courts.

Big change looms: Will US stick with Fortress Nationalism or will it opt for EU-style free movement across the Americas? US is so distant from that discussion, as Trump drowns it out with Nationalism, but US can't seal southern border logistically, so brutality becomes theatrical policy to deter.

🎯 They have all opted for "crack-downs" on the immigrants instead of efficiency & modernization, you know, a fair immigration policy. The problem was never the immigrants, it was always our leaders & lawmakers.
