The insidious part is trying to deny her agency, even as a defense mechanism, does just as much damage in othering women. It shouldn't be treated as some rare thing or an anomaly. The vast majority of people have deeply incoherent politics, so why wouldn't she?
Yeah, I think a lot of Americans have a simplistic view of politics where certain beliefs or identities "inherently" belong to a certain ideology w/o really interrogating that. It was eye-opening as a young kid learning there were pro-animal rights Neo-Nazis. Suddenly, I realized that someone
going "save the whales" didn't necessarily mean that they were leftists, good, or even meant the same thing others meant when using the same words.
If only it were true that straight, white cis folks were the only ones who could be fascists...
